Introducing Myself
First off, I’d like to thank Alec Brownscombe for giving me this great opportunity. I hope to bring some interesting and opinionated blogs to the table that will keep you all reading throughout the frustrating season that is surely to come.
Most of you already know me through Hockeybuzz as Ron Guillet, — your lovable moderator — which is in fact my real name. I’m currently attending college studying the Journalism program, and I’m striving to become a better writer as the season progresses.
I consider myself a die-hard Leafs and hockey fan. For one crucial reason – my entire family — we’re talking brother, father, uncles, aunts — are all Habs fans. Ever since I was a child I was raised and brainwashed to become a fan of the Blue, Blanc et Rouge. But every family has a black sheep right? I revolted and became a Leafs fan, and you can imagine the interesting family get-togethers this would create. Unfortunately for me, the last couple of years haven’t been exactly ”brag worthy” when speaking of the Leafs.
So here we are, approximately one month from regular season play. Or better yet, 10 days from pre-season play. It’s shaping up to be a frustrating season that will consist of many losses on the team calendar. But I think I speak for the majority of Leafs Nation when I say that this season’s focus should be on the team’s youth, rather than chasing 8th place in the Eastern Conference. It will be interesting to see how players such as Alexander Steen, Mikhail Grabovksi, Jiri Tlusty, and others reply to the added pressure and ice-time.
Thanks for reading, and I look forward to your comments in the many blogs to come.
