After a freshman season that exceeded all expectations, James Harden could easily have bolted for the NBA last summer. Arizona State coach Herb Sendek is glad he didn't. Harden looks to build on a strong performance in a season-opening win

Thanks for the reception everyone. Who knew how quickly the Burke element would become out of date! I'm from Bath, usually one of the first tourist stops out of London what with it being Britains most complete Roman city, although I'm originally from Birmingham.

On point I agree that the fanbase has collectively lowered expectations although I feel Wilson has been instrumental in helping recognise the short comings of the roster as opposed to the false hope of recent years with an equally poor or lazy team.

In regards to whilst, I looked in my thesaurus and came up with while, although, albeit (another fave of mine) and notwithstanding (criminally under used). I'll try and splice a few of them in and mix it up next time. Constructive critisism is always appreciated :)

Great read, very insightful - really enjoyed it! One minor nit to pick: the word whilst, while obviously a favorite, could use a rest sometimes :)

Great first post.

I don't entirely agree that the 5-4-4 or now 6-6-4 is being considered a modest success just because of RW though.

I think the fanbase collectively accepted the inevitable rebuild that had to happen as of last March.. the low expectations are a result of that as well as the media's portrayal of a team that was just going to suck to no end. It hasn't happened that way, for many of the reasons you rightly pointed out
