Speaking of Leaf’s legends, and in honour of Clark’s jersey number “Celebration” this saturday, I caught myself wondering if his value to Leafs history is actually increased because he was the center piece that landed Sundin, on top of his great career with the Leafs. It really puts Sundin’s situation in perspective when he denied being traded last season for a similar prospect that would have benefited the organization for another decade. Perhaps Sundin’s situation is a lot like Roy’s in Montreal. Roy was more than a legend for that team yet a lot of fans will never forgive him for walking out on the team as he did when he demanded a trade. Sundin will likely similarly wear such a stain on his legend status that will perhaps only disipate with time.
