Tomas Kaberle Injured
According to TSN, Tomas Kaberle broke a bone in his hand during the 7-4 victory over the Colorado Avalanche and former teammate, Andrew Raycroft.
Kaberle could be sidelined for a minimum of 4 weeks.
My view:
While Ron Wilson may be pulling out the remainder of his hair, Brian Burke should be unscathed by the news. Let’s look at this optimistically: There are still four and a half weeks leading up to the Trade Deadline. Even if Kaberle doesn’t return after four weeks, he’ll be slated as day-to-day by then, so it’s not as if General Managers will be acquiring a severely wounded player. Hell, there’s even a chance he’ll be healthy by then.
In terms of his point production, it won’t make a difference. GM’s around the league are aware of the offensive elements Kaberle brings to the ice. He’s a proven, veteran offensive-defenseman who will be sought-after for his PP contributions. If this were Jason Blake, for example, then there would be reason for concern.
While his presence in the line-up will be missed, let’s look on the bright side: Is Stralman destined for more ice-time?
What do you think, folks? Does this affect his trade value? Was January 29 the last time we see Kaberle in the line-up?
You stay classy, MLHS
