Burke‘s taking the necessary precautions with his two likeliest trade candidates.

Update – Here’s the latest on Moore’s contract situation as per TSN:

“Moore, believed to be originally seeking a deal averaging $2.75 per season, softened his demand after the Maple Leafs table a counter offer at less than $2 million on Monday evening. The two sides continued to negotiate on Tuesday and sources say Moore once again softened in hopes of closing the gap to encourage a deal to keep him in his home town. While the negotiation appears stalled at the moment, the door hasn’t been officially closed.”

    I just wonder if other GM’s will pay $2 mil. It’s easy to say “there’s some idiot out there that will” but with the cap and the bad economy, every penny counts these days… there’s a chance he just might never see $2m. 1.75 max.

    from what i m hearing, burke has a deal in place that will send moore and antro to chicago, they r just giving moore a bit more time to decide on lowering his offer. and from what i m hearing burkey has set a limit for no higher than $2 million a year for three years.

    moore should pounce on this deal, he will stay in toronto, his home town n get 2 mill..no way he getting that any where else….

    wonder what the hawks r willin to give up though…..interesting 21hours ahead of us…..
    hopefully, burke makes a good deal for the buds and kick starts this regrouping process….

    I’m with Ace Pinball on this one… I for one will be optimisitic and won’t admit disappointment until after 3pm tomorrow but hopefully won’t have to.
