Why trade for Stamkos when hes going to sign with Toronto as soon as he hits free agency?

What about this scenario? Kaberle to TB for Malone and their first round pick 09.
Salary is a wash and TB gets the kind of high end puck mover they need.
Leafs get a blue chip prospect.

Once again, anyone who would pass on this is an idiot, like-wise Tampa would be an idiot to do this. Our first(5-8th overall) and 2 seconds for a 1st overall pick basically and who turns out to be stamkos, who at thew age of 18 is already playing good in the NHL and going to be an all-star someday no doubt about it. I dont know what you guys think the draft is, but its not a magic day where EVERY SINGLE guy in the top 100 is an allstar because they are not, they sometimes are busts and dont even make it to the NHL. You take the sure route out and thats Stamkos….

Ask yourself this, would you trade our first and the 2 seconds for this years first? Of course, so why not for last years, because Stamkos will be just as good a Tavares will be….dont be stupid

@ Matt Swagg – The correct term is “hypothetical”. Nowhere on here did I ever say they were rumours or actual trade proposals. Oh and if you don’t like reading them, it’s simple don’t click on them.

Maybe some of the trolls can follow what I do here. I ask “hypothetical” trade proposals. I am not asking you to analyze “if” it would ever happen, I am asking if YOU would make the trade as Brian Burke. This really isn’t rocket science, you would make the trade or you wouldn’t.
