The Leafs have finally won something!

As Per Sportsnet.ca
The Toronto Maple Leafs have won the race to sign highly-touted free agent forward Tyler Bozak from the University of Denver Pioneers, sources tell Sportsnet.

A strong two-way centre, Bozak has been generating league-wide interest since his freshman year with as many as 25 NHL teams trying to get his name on a contract.

While he did miss a large chunk of this past season due to a knee injury, Bozak finished with eight goals and 15 assists in 19 games. He did return for the NCAA Tournament, recording a goal and an assist as his top-seeded Pioneers were upset 4-2 by Miami.

Passed over by NHL teams in his draft year, the 23-year-old Regina native is subject to entry level contract limits.

Earlier this week, the Leafs signed another NCAA prospect in Christian Hanson. Son of Dave from “Slap Shot” movie fame, the 23-year-old inked a two-year deal with the Blue & White.

    Things seem to be ticking along pretty nicely now. While I’m not sure I buy the description of Hanson as “the equivalent of a first-round pick” adding him and Bozak to the system, along with this summer’s draft, goes a long way towards replenishing our prospect depth.

    Two things: The race to the USA or NCAA Mapleleafs continues. Burke and his friends should be spending more time in Peterborough, Kingston, Sudbury and Saskatchewan rather than pumping the tires of the NCAA and USA Hockey. And, before you guys do a hype job for how wonderfull it is that Wilson was appointed USA Hockey coach can a leafs fan of 67 years ask what kind of a contract did MLSE give these two guy. Wait for the draft when Burke picks head cases from the USA like Drew Shore and Jeremy Morin. Where is the “Yes Man” GM of the Maple Leafs in all this. Oh yes, Nonis is doing a pizza run.

    Two things: Tyler Bozak is from Saskatchewan. Bozak and Hanson recieved entry-level contracts. Burke is rumoured to be aiming for higher-ranked players than Shore or Morin. Nonis is the Vice-President of Hockey Operations, not the GM. This is more than two things.

    Aquilinni said he fired Nonis because he wouldn’t make bold decisions. Look at what the Canucks are doing now. Oh, I’m sorry thats three things.

    Nonis didn’t give up a ton of his good young players who are integral parts of the current Canucks for someone like Brad Richards at the deadline a few years ago. One of the reasons the Canucks are in such a good position now is because they held onto players like Edler.

    @leafswest….
    1. 90% of bold decisions are stupid decisions, the last “bold decisions” he rejected was Brad Richard’s one of the most over paid players for their future.
    2. Bozak is Canadian!!!!!
    3. Last time i checked Ana. had the most canadian born players in the league when they one the cup when Burke was GM
    .
    Some leaf fans are soooo stupid sometimes!

    Aquilini is a plug who fired Nonis for not selling the farm in an attempt to squeek into the playoffs . Nonis had a plan and he stuck to it regardless of what his boss who knows nothing about hockey wanted. Not exactly my definition of a ‘yes man’
