Stalberg Lands Top Line Role

According to TSN, Stalberg has made the team and even found himself on the top line. Talk about getting the opportunity to showcase your talent. He’ll start Thursday’s opener against Montreal on a line with Jason Blake and Matt Stajan.

8 Games, 6 goals, 3 assists and playing on a line with two players who are being sent to the Marlies this week; Stalberg has certainly made his appearance and looks to have the potential to be the Leafs Datsyuk or Zetterberg. He’s big, he’s fast, he’s strong against the boards and has great hand to eye coordination for picking up passes that are a foot in the air and sticking them into the back of the net.

Viktor Stalberg seems to have all the necessary parts to be a top line winger, and Thursday he’ll begin his quest to prove it.

    I like Stan Fischler, he’s got aa good read on the game and is not overly homerish. Which is a rarity among sports annoucers

    I can’t wait for tomorrow night!!! Wooooo… Hockey is BACK!!
    I’m going to throw on my Mogilny jersey, head to the bar with the boys, order a few pitchers and get a few pounds of wings!!
    I want to see two things:
    1) Stalberg run circles around Hall Gill and pot a couple of goals!!
    2) Komisarek nail Gomez on the boards….. and score a goal!!

    I will not except defeat on opening night!!

    See, calling Bobby Orr ‘fast’ isn’t exactly fair. That guy was fast by *today’s* standards–he made just about everyone around him look like they were skating in mud. As for fastest Leafs, I’ve been watching since the 70s. While Gartner was indeed fleet of skate, I very rarely saw him in a position to use his top gear, at least as a Leaf. You pair a Stalberg with a Kessel and they’ll melt the ice.

    Now, what happens in november when Kessel returrns?

    All a big guess, but does anyone have any ideas what RW might do? Who gets demoted? Who’s the healthy scratch? Does anyone think Stempy might surprise with a good season? Is it possible we see Wallin, Kulemin on the forth? I’m stumped. Too many bodies..it’s seems like a real clusterfuck.

    Yes I do now. However, I will say with my own confidence that Stalberg (with equal ice time) will bury more pucks than Blake though. I know it cannot be justified with stats, I just think this kid has the game… at least more so than Blake does.
