Gustavsson expected to start tonight vs Sens

Ron Wilson won’t tell us who’s starting tonight game, but Jonas Gustavsson left the ice first at today’s practice, meaning that he’s expected to start.

It’s hard to argue with Ron Wilson’s decision because of Vesa’s .571 save percentage on Saturday. However, Toskala is 6-1-1 with a 2.23 GAA in his last eight starts against the Senators. Also, he hasn’t lost in regulation in his last 15 games, but that stat is a little deceiving, as the Leafs have lost 8 of those games.

Nevertheless, it’ll be exciting to see how Gustavsson fares in his first NHL start.

Update:

-Gustavsson confirmed by Wilson as starter
-Kulemin in for “banged up” Primeau
-Mitchell fills in on 4th line
-Rosehill in for Mayers
-Exelby in for Finger

Looks like these will be the lines:

Stalberg-Stajan-Blake
Ponikarovsky-Grabovski-Hagman
Kulemin-Wallin-Stempniak
Rosehill-Mitchell-Orr

Kaberle-Komisarek
Beauchemin-Schenn
Exelby-White

    Last year everyone was on Finger, this year looks like its going to Exelby…think about it guys your bashing the 6th rated defencemen on the Leafs team. Wanna make a statement, Bash the little smurf that for some unknown reason has been handed #1 Status Centre, or at very least a top 6 player!…Even after a decade of Losing we have never had a poorer excuse for a #1 Centre since I have been cheering for them, 1964 and counting…Please Brian Burke bring in a Centre the likes of Sittler,Gilmour,hell right now I would take a Peter Zezel, or Billy Derlago, or Russ Courtnall, or Laurie Bocshman or even a Walt McKechnie, get the idea none of these names end in sky…and yes I did not mention Sundin, my own personal reasons.

    @ B Leaf, I guess we the some of the few who have not joined the band wagon of the BB. I agree mostly with your comments and it is very strange that so many don’t see the problem. If BB cannot find some gritty forwards, we will stink and Boston will be looking at the Lottery picks. You cannot make chicken salad with chicken shit and that is what our forwards are at the moment.

    Maybe a guy like Hartnell is available? Top 6, gritty as hell and unlikely to be affordable by Philly.

    Even with a much worse squad last year (remember, Kessel is still coming, and we have solid talent in the reserves), we could not finish lower than 7th. We even iced guys like Ben Ondrus, Andre Deveaux and Jeff Hamilton for long stretches and still we couldn’t get in the lottery zone. If we get a pick between 5-10 this year, it’s still a fair deal for Kessel. Even in that range, it’s unlikely anyone will have the ability that Kessel does. The real challenge comes in not letting this debacle happen again. If we bomb this year, Burke has to absolutely rape the draft and free agency. He cannot hesitate to trade the team away at the deadline with misguided hopes of making the playoffs. He must land an impact player. He must clean up on July 1st. Boston can get 1 good pick, but they won’t get 2.

    Hartnell will be available next summer for cheap, Charlie. But right now, they’ve got the whole roster in there under the cap, and have no reason whatsoever to trade Scottie.

    I am alarmed. not because of the losses, but of how they looked. kind of makes me want gary roberts back, even if we have to wheel him out there on a wheelbarrow and andre the giant has to be dug up and made to help… this team is DIRECTIONLESS. no leadership wharsoever, and i think that goes for off the ice (staff) as much as the players… in the end, the score FLATTERED the leafs.

    @Jordan

    three or four posts from you today alone that make you look like a pouting petulant child. quit this jilted lover crap over wallin. face it, he’s just not that into you. stop making yourself look like a vindicative idiot by picking on one of the few players on this team who is actually doing HIS job. he is far from being a problem, especially with the star performances put in by the rest of the team night in and night out.

    on another note, rw strongly hinted call ups in his post game. after promising a bag skate:) and making me smile with an obscure norden bomb sight reference:)

    what a boring game!!! no hitting, no passion, no effort.

    I dont get it the first game against montreal they were flying ,hitting everything, back checking hard. Against Wash and Ott they didnt even show up.

    Im really not impressed with beaucheman forget about the stats, he just isnt a very smooth skater, his sticking handling is below average. I really believe that hes nothing without neidermyer.

    Also get rid of Wilson, Im sick of listening to him…. Hes an idiot and more boring than paul maurice, the problem with the team is his pregame speeches probably put the team to sleep.

    @gnashing
    If you didn’t see that he was our worst player out there, then your a fucking idiot. Don’t direct posts to me anymore because clearly your a fuck tard and if your not as pissed at this effort as most of us, then you can’t be very interested in the team winning

    @jordan

    i’m sorry if someone that looks like wallin keeps buggering you in the boys room and taking your lunch money, but it really IS NOT him. you obviously have a lot of angst and resentment over this, i can only hope it will clear up when your acne does, otherwise its going to be years of therapy bills…

    I’m 22 so your attempt at humor about me being young is cute. Wallin sucked out there. He is good defensivly but no offence what so ever. Oh and people don’t bother me anymore because mommy put me in MuayThai and BJJ thank you very much. So I’m gonna go back to bed for a bit, plow my GF, then come back on here. Have a nice day cuttie ; )

    oh jordan, its really sad when someone who claims to be 22 thinks that bragging about martial arts they can’t spell the names of, or – my favorite- having a girlfriend will impress people, especially complete strangers in an internet forum. i doubt you have the iq to grasp this, but i’m feeling cheritable: for your own future’s benefit, ask yourself “why do people think i’m 12 everytime i open my mouth?”
    You may think i’m just another mean jerk now, but some day you’ll thank me. or not… and you will forever remain that kid that just badly needed some attention from a dad he didn’t have and a mom that worked too much. for your sake, i hope its the former, and that you get to keep your night light on tonight. i want you to sleep well on this bit of advice. hugs and kisses.
