Maple Leafs defenceman Mike Komisarek is expected to miss 3-4 weeks due to a small quad tear. He got hurt in Saturday night’s game against the Red Wings and left Tuesday’s game versus the Wild early as well.
Looks like he shouldn’t have been back in there Tuesday night. It’s really unfortunate timing for Komisarek and the Maple Leafs, as he finally settled down after a shaky start to the season. It’ll be tough to replace the team leader in hits and blocked shots.
Garnet Exelby will likely draw back in to the lineup Friday in Chicago. Exelby was playing his best hockey of the season (not sure if that’s saying much) before being pulled from the lineup for Jeff Finger. Let’s hope he can continue to play well with extended minutes.
Also, Carl Gunnarsson has been called up from the Marlies.
