Get F’ed With Ed: Game #5 (Dec. 16 vs Phoenix)

Ilya Bryzgalov and the Phoenix Coyotes roll into the ACC tonight looking to break Toronto’s winning streak.  Expect this to be a tight-checking, low-scoring affair.  Then again, we all know how the Leafs rarely do what is expected.

*EDIT: Tough loss, but updated standings for GFWE are now included in this post!*

Make sure you read the introductory post for this contest here.  It has everything you need to know about how the contest works and what you need to do to play.  The three winners will get to attend the January 14th Leafs game with Ed Flannery, a MLHS veteran with some spare tickets (great seats too!) and the desire to show the ACC how to root for their team.

Get F’ed with Ed is a month-long contest.  You’ll be making 3 predictions before every Leafs game, and be awarded a certain amount of points, as follows:

1. The Winning Team (1 point) – Which team will win the game? (don’t worry, you aren’t obliged to pick the Leafs)

2. The Final Score (2 points) – Predict the final game score!  WHEN (in OT, SO, or regulation) the game is won is NOT required.

3. The First Goal Scorer (2 points) – Who is going to score the first goal of the game? (your selection can obviously be from either team)

All eligible participants’ scores will be tallied, updated, and displayed as ongoing standings.

Today is the fifth of the seventeen games that will be counted for Get F’ed with Ed. Submissions will only be accepted on this thread, and will be accepted until one minute before game time as indicated by your time of posting.  Remember, you may only post one prediction per game.  Should you post additional predictions at any point throughout the thread before that night’s deadline, only the last post will be accepted.

Standings & More (after 5 GFWE games)

  1. Zoonpolitikon, leafsFTW, Carltonthebear, mapleaf31 (8 points)
  2. JasonTrent, frito10 (7 points)
  3. modernhipster, Scooter (6 points)

-With many people sitting at 5, 4, 3 and even 2 points, this contest is still very much up for grabs!

-A stunning 96% of contestants picked the Leafs to win Monday against the Sens.  Hopefully some of you played a little Proline.

-Sadly, the 82% of you that chose Toronto to pick up another victory tonight were mistaken.

-Look here late on Thursday or early Friday for the next contest thread.

Cheers,

Nik

i’d blame him… for not being in the lineup. regardless of whether or not finger and exelby played well on monday, schenn should’ve been in tonight.

btw. the 2 wins, 1 loss, 2 wins, 1 loss streak continues. (edit: sorry charlie, didn’t see your post just before mine. i hope you’re right!)

Maybe Burkie will make a deal tonight to unload the shit that is Finger & Wallin. 2nd round pick and a giant fly-swatter to smack the other morons in the head.

No deals til after the Christmas trade freeze.

They might agree on something, but no official announcement.

Well at least we know there are two wins coming. It has consistently been our story. Win 2, lose 1. Which is ok with me. I think we beat Buffalo based on the fact Lalime is in net, then we beat Boston, finally getting the retribution we need. And then we lose the next to Buffalo with Miller in net.

Where did you hear that Lalime would be in net?

If you’re like me, watch the game. I watch any and all Leaf hockey regardless.

It was an exciting game for a lot of the night, then Leaf brain farts for the other parts.

Amen to that! We don’t have families, or things that are important in our lives? Totally agree. I make comparatively FUCK ALL and can be dropped like a hat if i don’t make sense to the bottom line at any time.
Complete joke and I couldn’t agree more.

Yea, I’ve often wondered that too. Being traded should come with the job, regardless of when it is if it helps the team.
