Can the Leafs snag another two points in the standings before Christmas break?  Make your predictions here!

Current Standings and Fun Notes

The standings look quite different this time around, with our first leader separating himself from the pack and a whole lot of people getting right back in it!

  1. leafsFTW (12 points)
  2. Zoonpolitikon, Carltonthebear, frito10, mapleaf31, JasonTrent (9 points)
  3. Andrew R, mweller (8 points)

- Six contestants are right behind the leaders with 7 points each.

-Only three official contestants are still without any points (don’t worry, I won’t say who).

Cheers,

Nik

How do you improve the forward group when the GM won’t bite the bullet and GIVE talent to GET talent. BB is running out of options. Sure he can go after UFA’s and pay-up big time but then he’ll be close to the cap again(ie Kovalchuck)If BB thinks our D has good depth and the top 6 is thin–then he should use a piece or two from that D depth and a piece or two from the top 6 group who aren’t really suited for that role, to aquire skill up front. Otherwise, in 1-2 years, he’s gonna have 10 defensmen ready to play and no top line. What fuckin good is that? He’ll end up in the waiver pickle or having to dump someone to get under the cap or roster limit.

I don’t think it’s for lack of trying.

I just hope he is listening to Kaberle offers.

Acton sure has something on someone. Seriously though couldn’t he be upstairs and keep in touch with wilson via radio to give his observations as the game goes on, rather than standing next to RW wispering little love messages in his ear, he could still do that but via the radio. Maybe he holds RW’s hand behind the bench?

that’s exactly why I was suggesting trading Schenn and Stajan for Jeff Carter, I really like Carter but if given a choice between Schenn and Carter I would take Carter everytime, in order to even have a chance at him you won’t get him unless you give up something of value, will we miss a defensive defenceman, no not now we have others right now we didn’t miss him when he was sitting out and quite a few were suggesting sending him to marlies. by the time he would be ready to be a 1 or 2 D on our team (if ever) will probably be 3 or 4 years anyway , can we not get another D similar by then through draft, free agency trade or within our system? 24 year old centremen who have scored 46 goals in their fourth year in the league don’t come around too often, look at Kessel, BB had the chance to get him and he took it why, because he felt it may never have the opportunity again.

I rather Leafs trade Komisarek instead of Schenn. I’m tired of seeing our draft picks doing well on other teams. They signed Gill, and traded him the same year to Pittsburgh. Komisarek’s contract isn’t bad if a team needs a top 3 – 4 defenceman. Wang the owner from the Islanders has to told Snow, he can pick up some contracts if he feels that they have a chance to make the playoffs. What better trade for them than to pick up a local boy and a player they were eyeing in the pre season, this being Komi. Trade him for prospects like Hamonic & Corey Trivino. I LOVE JEFF CARTER BUT.. I think they are better off getting Horton, he appears to be cheaper to acquire and Florida is more urgent to trade him aslong as they receive an immidate impact player to their roster like a Grabovski or Hagman. Flyers would want in return high caliber prospects. They don’t need to make the playoffs as desperately as Florida. Horton would be a much needed asset and well loved character player to this team. If they throw in a project prospect like Jimmy Hayes or Hanson they could receive a bonifided young 3rd liner with some offensive potential like Matthais. They should maximize their trades this year. And not throw all their eggs in one basket like they did with Kessel.

no way NYI take Komi unless one of their big Dmen fall and are injured for a long yime.

Florida seems to be turning the corner now and Horton is playing well now so I doubt they trade him, Phily on the other hand need to make the playoffs or I’ll bet the GM is gone therefore a shakeup is needed, if we wait to try and pry carter from them they may turn it around themselves and then no trade, I think we can do without Schenn and Stajan(expiring contract)and since Hagman and Grabo are under reasonable contracts and both play with some passion I would definately rather keep them.

If we could get Horton though by offering Stajan and a prospect then I would do that for sure.

there is NO WAY BB trades komi in the first year of his contract when he chose to come to Toronto, if Burke did that then he could forget about other free agents choosing T.O. as a destination…

That is 100% true especially for this year.

    Yup.

The only thing that can happen, as Cameron mentioned, is Anaheim trading for Beauchemin. That’s the only scenario I see a guy in his first year of his contract getting traded.

It’s easy to trade futures and sign free agents. Making an actual TRADE opens yourself to criticism.

I’m rather certain any hardcore Chris Cornell fan GHD IV Kiss Styler, gave up on wishing for his return to the once powerful Seattle Grunge band, SoundGarden… As from that point onwards, things went from bad (That being Audioslave) to much, much worse….. The much much worse being his latest Discount GHD straighteners collaboration with RNB producer
