Leafs’ Prospects – OHL Playoff Update
Share

Kenny RyanLast night, the London Knights – and Leafs prospect Nazem Kadri – were eliminated from the OHL playoffs in a Game 7 blowout at the hands of the Kitchener Rangers.

For his part, Kadri makes his playoff exit as the OHL’s post-season scoring leader with a remarkable 9 goals and 18 assists in 12 games.

The Kitchener Rangers will now move on to face the defending-champ Windsor Spitfires, whose own lineup features a couple of Leafs’ prospects: forwards Dale Mitchell and Kenny Ryan (pictured).

Mitchell provided the Spitfires with another solid campaign, recording 16 goals and 27 assists in 32 games played during the regular season while providing energy and spark. His clutch play has carried forward into the post-season, where he has posted 6 goals and 4 assists in a mere 8 games — with 3 of those goals being game-winners. Look for Mitchell to suit up for the Toronto Marlies next season.

Ryan was able to turn in a solid OHL rookie season (14 goals, 21 assists in 52 games), despite receiving somewhat limited ice time on a team whose forward depth features the likes of Taylor Hall, Greg Nemisz, Adam Henrique, Zack Kassian, Eric Wellwood and Mitchell, to name a few. Two rounds into the playoffs, Ryan has yet to impact the scoreboard (1 goal, 1 assist in 8 games); he has, however, held an even +/- in predominantly a checking role. He is still a couple years away from prime-time, but early returns have been positive.

If you’re looking for some exciting playoff action at the Junior level, be sure to check out the Kitchener-Windsor series as two offensive dynamos square off against one another — in what is sure to be a fast-paced, high-scoring series –with a berth in the OHL Championship game on the line.

And if you haven’t done so already, I highly encourage you to check Gus Katsaros and Bloge Salming’s prospect vlog featuring Kenny Ryan from earlier today.

Looking forward to your thoughts as always,

For those asking, the actual lottery, the numbered combinations, is done in NYC at league office. Envelopes/results unveiled in TSN studio.

    Congratulations Florida.

    @ Nights:
I’m not sure how the draw works. But I guess only the first pick could be drawn. My stupidity presents itself every once in a while.

boston will get the #1 overall. Just makes sense to see my Leafs raped one more time.

I dont even fuckin care. There is no way that BB and Company will be not be picking until the 3rd round this year.

    Congrats to Captain Dion.

    Draft Lottery Odds
Since a team can move up a max of four spaces in the lottery, only the top 5 teams have a shot at the #1 pick overall. No team can move down more than one spot.

    25.0% – Edmonton Oilers
18.8% – Boston Bruins (from Toronto)
    14.2% – Florida Panthers
    10.7% – Columbus Blue Jackets
    8.1% – New York Islanders
    —–
    6.2% – Tampa Bay Lightning
    4.7% – Carolina Hurricanes
    3.6% – Atlanta Thrashers
    2.7% – Minnesota Wild
    2.1% – New York Rangers
    1.5% – Dallas Stars
    1.1% – Anaheim Ducks
    0.8% – Calgary Flames

Basically, Leafs fans need to hope for one of Florida, Columbus, NYI or Tampa to win the lottery, in order to knock the Bruins out of the Hall/Seguin sweepstakes.
    .
The combined odds of that happening?
    .
    39.2 %
    .
    So you’re telling me there’s a chance …

    @ Garrett Bauman:
    (was a bit late…)
So in essense… for those who care :

    18.8% of Boston drafting 1st
39.2% chance of Boston drafting 3rd
42% chance of Boston drafting 2nd

For those who are geeks, the 42 % esseitnally means (Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) that we’re Boston is 2nd.

    Still interesting chances.

Did anybody just hear the last segment on the Bill Watters Show. I wish I could just take a shit on their smug faces. Not only did we give up a pick that might turn out to be the 1st overall pick, we also have to deal with these assholes rubbing shit into our wounds. I hate the Toronto media. Rather than looking at the positives of the trade, they make it completely obvious that they really don’t have any interest for the Leafs. I wish we could have members of the media who actually love this team like the fans and bloggers on this site.

I bet Boston wins the draft lottery just because this league is fixed and they hate the leafs. Although from a financial stand point they prolly want Florida. It will not be Edmonton, guaranteed! You will see.
