Ovechkin Snows a Kid

During the Pre-Game Ceremonies of Canadiens and Capitals Game 4, Alexander Ovechkin chose the perfect time to skate up to his bench, snow a kid (breaking and sending ice chunks), including his flag, and sit down. Some say he did it on purpose, others feel he was just heading to the bench, you be the judge.

I cannot believe how much anger there is directed towards the Leafs by fans of other teams. I was just reading the message board about us signing the Finnish Goalie and there is so much venom its ridiculous. They dont even talk about positives of their own teams, just rip on ours. Its unfortunate because I cannot even discuss hockey on sites like that any longer, just here the Shrine of Hockey Talk.

For the record, I have seen Ovechkin do this very similar fast stop at the bench at the ACC before, so it is very likely that it is sort of his ritual, skating hard to the bench and being the first one on.

But I can’t say for sure whether or not it was on purpose, because my name isn’t Alex Ovechkin..lol

But I have seen him do this before at games when no one was around the bench, a ritualistic way to end the warm-up if you will.

But I would say that if he did do it, it was merely Ovie clowning around. He didn’t spray him in the face, it looked in the stomach anyway from the vid. Maybe he was just trying to have fun with him.

We will likely find out. I am sure the Montreal media are sharpening their pitch forks as we type.

I often found it bizarre as well how these so called Leafs “haters” know every player, know every stat, etc. I think we have a lot of closet Leafs fans in the area :)

On purpose and totally classless, If you want to show up the other team’s ceremony, take a cue from Darryl Sittler from back in the 70′s when the Leafs were playing the Flyers in a fiercly contested series. The Flyers good luck charm was Kate Smith singing the anthem, they rarely lost when she sang. Sittler one-upped the Flyers by skating up and presenting Kate with a bouquet of flowers before she sang (or after, can’t remember). I can’t remember if the Leafs won that game or not, they ultimately lost the series, but it was a great display of gamesmanship.

    @ Kouba:
    -
Are people seriously still accusing Crosby of diving? Let’s get over it, he was 18, and since then he draws about 10 penalties that aren’t called every game, simply because he’s Crosby. The guy is the epitomy of class in the NHL right now. How many people can be as humble and down to Earth as him at such a young age, after having so much success? My guess is very, very few people…
    -
    And good call matto.

This is just the playful side of Ovechkin…but his playful side is crude and very low class. So take it for what it is, a super talent without any social class. Even these sorts of people with superb talent occasionally get to be millionaires. But like these same sorts of people, they rarely care what we think.

If I was Ov, I would’ve given the kid a little pat on the head just so he knew that I was playing around. Would’ve shut-up the media too.

oh yeah, MA, there’s a difference between breaking and braking. You’re looking for the latter in this case.
