In what could yet again prove to be a shrewd, prudent move, Maple Leafs GM Brian Burke has once again added another name to his front office staff.

Burke and the Maple Leafs announced today that they have brought former Tampa Bay Lightning assistant GM Claude Loiselle on board.  Loiselle returns to Toronto, after working in the Leafs front office in the early 1990′s.

According to TSN, he will largely be responsible for contracts and payroll with the club, replacing the departing Jeff Jackson.

    @ Cameron:
I wish ppl on this board would stop comparing players like Bolland and now Wheeler to Stajan. Wheelers ceiling is WAY beyond Stajans, as he is definitely more talented, he’s faster, with more size and better hands. (hence the 5th overall selection.) Now i understand you were only comparing in terms of where he would fit on the roster, as one of those players who isn’t consistent enough or strong enough to crack the top order, but it isnt as if he couldnt turn that around with his ability. Wilson has been labeled a development coach and instrumental in many young players outbreaks, who knows what he could do with an american born player like Wheeler. No? Having said that, i wouldnt involve Stalberg either.

I don’t know, Bruins fans can’t wait to toss Wheeler away. I fail to see why we should be excited about giving up our best asset for him. I don’t see his upside being much better than Stajan’s. Stajan is going to be a 55-60 point guy. Even if Wheeler ever hits 65 points, do we want another lazy player on our roster?

    @ Cameron:
Fair enough. Although it wouldnt be the first time the Bruins and their fans were impatient with someones play, ALA Brad Boyes. They got Wideman in return, but they even boo him now lol, so i dno if them wanting to get rid of Wheeler necessarily makes him a bad player. But with a first and Colborne i’d say Wheeler wouldn’t be a bad toss in, i dont think we could do much better in a trade for Kabby, unless ofcourse we add Kulemin and look at a bigger return. If one of Kabanov, Burmistrov, or Skinner are available at #15, i think itd be one heck of a trade for us.

To BOS: Kaberle, 2nd in 2011 (TOR)
    To VAN: Colborne, Wheeler
To TOR: Hodgson, 1st in 2010 (BOS)

Boston gets their puck-mover, Vancouver gets a less difficult prospect with similar upside, as well as a big body with potential. The Leafs get a potential star and a 1st round pick.

I’m really not sure why we would be after Patrice Bergeron. Like someone said earlier, he is one hit away from retirement!
Also do not understand why several want to include Nikolai Kulemin in any trade. Kulemin is the best Leaf prospect in quite some time – and we are going to trade him? Okay if it is a deal for Malkin or Taylor Hall, etc, – perhaps! Kulemin may never win the Art Ross trophy but he is a solid, two-way player – give him some power-play time with Kessel and ? – and who knows? $2.5-$3.0 million, why not?
Also, don’t over-estimate Brayden Schenn! From people I’ve talked to that have seen him often, thay say “he is decent, but not outstanding.” #1 Center in NHL? Somehow I doubt it! Maybe great #2 or #3!
    Just my thoughts!
