Leafs return to London, Ontario to battle Conference Champion Flyers

Just announced earlier this week, it looks like the Leafs will return to my neck of the woods.  Tickets for the event go on sale this Friday at 10pm, although there is a few pre-sales available as well.

You will recall last season that the Leafs also came to London, Ontario, a game in which they beat the Flyers 4-0, including a goal by Nazem Kadri, scoring in a Leafs uniform while playing in his junior arena.

The Flyers, for their part, are owned by the company who also owns the arena in London, Ontario, a partnership which allows the Flyers to make an annual excursion to the venue each year for a pre-season game.

In six previous years, it is believed that the Leafs game last season was the only one that sold out, and did so rather quickly.

Why would be lookign at another goaltender prospect ?

I think he misread post when he was on here yesterday snooping around, WE said teams would want one of our goalie prospects in a trade, but the dumb ass read it backwards, that’s the only explanation I can think of.

GMs make bad trades for over valued players every year so no reason we cant win this trade
i think we will get a guy like neil and first not because its even but because GMs are gamblers
and figure a top form kabs singed for a few years is gonna help there team win

Here we go again, the Kaberle summer trade festival is entering it’s 3rd year. Every year, we are speculating until his No trade clause kicks right back in. This year however, I am not falling for it again. If he’s not gone by the draft or a few days later, I am sure he won’t be dealt. I am NOT spending another summer waiting for news that he’s been trade.

I mean, if he’s dealt, we’ll probably have a great return, and if he stays, he’s a really good puck moving defenseman. Win win!

    Those were my 2 cents.

@ Brian Burke is bringing sexy back!:
he’s not staying… we need assets back now, before this upcoming season begins.. he’s gone, it may not happen at the draft, it could happen just after it’s done, who knows…

    but Kaberle is gone

I’m not sure I understand, are we entitled to a compensatory draft pick?

my guess is that it has to do with the 50 contract limit.

@ Brian Burke is bringing sexy back!:
I see your side of it as well, I just think last summer Burkie felt keeping Kabs would give us a chance to compete for the playoffs with the roster he had to open the season with.. this summer is different, Burke has made the team young and has more of a plan in place to improve our roster up front…. + it’s now or never for Kaberle. Lastly the addition of Dion is a huge factor as well.
Plus as of yesterday he opened up saying there are offers and they will deal when the right offer presents itself, then the memo went out to all other 29 GMs about Kaberle’s status. The last point is that we can’t have this much money tied up in the back end… makes no sense

Now I know this WILL NOT happen, but just for shits and giggles, what if BB could flip Phaneuf for Ryan straight up? Their value should be fairly equal I would think. We would solve the cap problem on the back end, get a power forward we need and keep Kabs. Then we would have traded Stajan and co. for Ryan and Aullie.

    @ RJ:
Not a chance…. Ryan is a solid young player, he’s awesome.. but look who he’s played with in Anahiem.
I would not trade Phaneuf for him straight up.

Sad to say , but based on the way things are looking Ryan is not someone Burke is going after. He’s not going to trade a young valuable player that we have… he’s going to trade Kabs to bring in a young forward + a pick, then maybe maneuvre another deal and then try to get what he needs in Free agency

I think it’d be great if Kaberle was traded for a Top Six forward this off-season and then re-signed to a contract next off-season.
