Support Greg Brady on the Ride to Conquer Cancer
AM 640 radio personality and co-host of the “Bill Watters Show”, Greg Brady, will be taking part in this year’s Ride To Conquer Cancer benefiting the Campbell Family Institute at the Princess Margaret Hospital.
Participants will cycle from Toronto to Niagara Falls over the weekend of June 12-13 in an effort to raise awareness for, and donations toward, the ongoing development of research, instructional practices, and compassionate care at the renowned Princess Margaret, one of the top five cancer research hospitals in the world.
Many of us have been impacted by cancer in our lives, our families’ lives or those of our friends, and also by wonderful (at times seemingly-superhuman) hospital staff and innovative life-saving technologies. Whether you can give $10 or $100, every contribution – no matter how large or small – makes a tremendous difference toward the continual support and development of these essential services.
More Information
If you would like to learn more about this event, and how and where the donations are directed, I encourage you to visit the Ride To Conquer Cancer website at www.conquercancer.ca.

I actually like Mcguire. I think hes a dork and dumb but I like him because he usually goes out of his way to complement people
And then he tells you the name of their home town, complete with driving directions, and mentions how their Great Uncle Pete was assistant waterboy for the Beaverton Beavertails minor hockey club for 63 seasons.
...all in one breath! He tries to pronounce names with the proper accent and generally tries to be respectful always. As much as this guy drive me nuts with his "monster" and "double-Dion" phrases I think he's so excited about hockey that I don't mind my kid listening to him. He is wrong (IMO) on so many things, but then he says a lot of things that are right nad even sometimes inciteful. It might boil down to "if you talk constantly the odds are simply in your favour that you'll eventually say something intelligent". I like him in small doses.
.
I also like listening to Don Landry & Gord Stellick on the way to work in the morning. Gord isn't a dumbass and they have some interesting stories sometimes. They don't take themselves too seriously but they also don't try to be clowns. I think there's as much useful things said on their show as any.
I also respect Bill Watters and enjoy listening to him when he gets a new topic to talk about, but I also think he's normally out to lunch on many things. I think he's a stand up guy and deserves respect. He goes out on a limb a lot to make predictions others won't make. I think it's funny still when he says nononono to Brady. Initially I laughed at Brady's quips, but it's also proof that you can get too much of a good thing...
.
Good on everyone who puts their time into helping others.

@ peterbleafs:
Kinda makes hockey seem trivial and unimportant. I certainly see where you are coming from now. Sending good thoughts your way bud.
@ GO Blue AND White:
I'll take that as a compliment. Thanks! For the record, no, Garrett and I are not the same person, though we do happen to live next door to each other (thanks for the free WiFi, GB!).

@ peterbleafs:
Thanks for writing that, Peter. I understand where you were coming from now. I don't think Brady was trying to come off the way he did, but I can see how it would have felt that way to someone in your situation. All the best to your sister, and to you also. I can't imagine what it must be like to have to go through something like that. I'll keep a good thought for you and your family.
How about Rick Curran's latest comment's on Kaberle? Blam! Can't see how this helps Kaberle in the least ... unless he wants to be boo'ed at the ACC for 41 home games this season. Nothing he said isn't true, but there seems to be a hostility there.

You guys are right I shouldnt have railed on him. However my sister is going through chemotherapy now and it is incredibly painful to watch and see. Then I listened to Watters and Brady on my drive home and Greg is talking about the event but he spent more than half of it complaining about how it hurts his bum and that he falls off the bike a few times, etc. And I thought to myself.....How does that slight small discomfort register more importantly than the event he was trying badly to promote. He spent more time soliciting compliments on himself doing it than the gift of supporting cancer research.
All I could see was my sister suffering, preparing for death and him whining.
@ GO Blue AND White:
I think that when I just finished reading about a guy that is going out of his way to support a great cause and that is trying to get other people to join that cause that the first comment I read directly after shouldn't be thats hes an asshole. Obviously it's not just me that thinks that way.
Peter never did anything wrong did he? He just made a statement saying he doesn't like his arrogance towards the leafs but he feels its still a good cause and people should do the event. Am I missing something here? Also; Gerard and GB sound quite similar, wouldn't you say? Haha just kidding around

oh and i like the boys on the fan 590 (is it andy frost?) who talk about the leafs and have viewers call in after them game.
For all of you who highly dislike howard burger watch this.

I love PJ Stock's opinions and his personality is perfect for the job. I used to think he was just a clown but I actually agree with most of what he says.
The reason nobody likes any reporters is because they all say the most obvious things. Last Game Bob Mckenzie said " if leighton has a solid game for 60 minutes, philly is gonna have a real good chance of winning." Ya think ...lol
thats just one example but they all do it and pierre especially everybody is a monster to him

Hell, I'd get behind Sean Avery if he was doing something good for charity! Why does it matter what his opinions are if he's doing a good thing for the community? Good on Greg and anybody else who helps out with events like this.
are here any sports commentaters or writers that anyone likes....seems everyone that is mentioned on here is an ass......just wondering...
I've ridden my bike to montreal for charity and know it takes a lot of commitment to do such a thing. Although Montreal is about 2 1/2 times further than Niagra Falls and I did it in 4 days( ;) ) it's quite a good long ride so I've already donated to cause. Let's just say that Brady is an ass and that his ass is doing a good thing for a good cause and leave it at that. Hope you paid more than $30 for your saddle Greg!
@ Byron:
Wouldn't that be nice.
.
[Sigh] ... let's try to avoid the personal insults here folks. That's not what this post is about. If you're not a fan of the guy (or each other), that's fine, but I don't think it's too much to ask that you please keep it respectful. Thx, GB.
@ peterbleafs:
It's a shame you feel the need to use this forum as an opportunity to hurl personal insults. I would hedge and say you've probably never met the man and know only his opinions ... your approach to your comments here says a heck of lot more about you than it does about him.
.
Anyway, now that that's out of my system. Regardless of what you think of Brady's opinions on the radio, this is a very worthwhile cause and one that people should be proud to support.
.
Thanks Garrett for posting this, and thanks to Greg Brady for giving his time and efforts to promote and raise awareness for the Ride. I donate anonymously each year - sometimes $5 is all I can give - but that's all it takes. A lot of small contributions add up to make a huge difference.
.
This isn't about whether or not you care for the individual sponsoring the event - it's about the event itself. Take a post like this for what it's worth - rallying support for a good cause sponsored by an MSM member whose show covers the Leafs. That's the sort of blogger-MSM partnership I can get behind, and I hope others feel the same way too.
Greg Brady is an asshole. I support the charity already to the tune of $100s per year but would never give him any money, anyone else in the ride? He is tied with Watters, Mclean and that other wingnut who hates the Leafs as arrogant, stupid and with nothing really interesting to say. So I encourage everyone to support the ride...but find someone else.
