The NHL announced this morning the full order of selections for the 201o NHL Entry Draft.  While it is widely known that the Toronto Maple Leafs do not have a first or second round pick, they will select six times in this year’s draft.  Carolina leads the way with 11 selections, the New York Islanders and Edmonton Oilers are close behind with 10 picks.

The San Jose Sharks and the Dallas Stars hang at the other end of the spectrum, with only four picks at this year’s draft thus far.

Here are the order of selections for the Toronto Maple Leafs:

Round 3: 62nd overall

Round 4: 112

Round 5: 122

Round 5: 144

Round 7: 182

Round 7: 202

I hope that was a joke as we all know the GM does very little to no scouting of prospects.

That’s true; but JFJ was a scout before and after the Leafs; so you have to assume a little bit that he did his homework on the picks he made.

    @ U-Kno:
Eberle was 20+ overall and stayed in junior 2 more years. That’s why he’s been good. Imagine if Schenn stayed till now. He would have destroyed eveyone and people would be calling him the next Orr. That’s how the candian media works

    @ Charlie:
The thing is, this guy is saying that in 3 years, Hall will be putting up 40 goals, Eberle 30 goals, and MPS 80 points. He’s basically saying that all 3 are going to be stars by the time their 21 or 22, which is possible, but extremely unlikely.
    .
If MPS gets 80 points, with his size, he’d be the second Mats Sundin. Expecting that out of a guy picked 10th overall is ridiculous. Yes, it could happen, as superstars have come from all over the draft, but there is no reason to believe that it is guaranteed. Not even close. If you look at previous the 10th overall picks from the last 15 years, Nik Antropov is arguably the best player. The odds of MPS being a superstar are extremely low. If he had guaranteed star potential, he’d have been picked way earlier.
    .
Hall is the closest to being a guaranteed star, and I’d say he’s probably got about a 95% chance of being one. But MPS has about a 20% chance, which is generous when you look at the percentage of 10th overall picks that have become stars.
    .
I can’t use the same logic with Eberle, as he has shown intangibles that are off the charts for someone his age. His heart and ability to come through in the clutch are skills that are way easier to transfer over to the NHL. I’d probably give him a 60%.
    .
Using these percentages, there is about an 11% chance that all 3 become stars. Expecting that to happen in 3 years is even more ridiculous.

    .
Burkie Said awhile back that in the later rounds he was looking for player that have that one skill set the screams NHL, like some1 that has amazing skating ability or good offensive flare but lack the defensive skillset etc.
With that being said , i`m not sure with the later rounds.
    .
    .
Can anybody think of players that come to mind like that or later round pick they would lIke burke to draft

I thought we had the Rangers 4th round pick this year also? Was that not part of the Antropov agreement – a 2nd, plus a 4th if the Rangers made the playoffs?

Look at the leaps and bounds this team has made since BB came on board and consider the draft had absolutely nothing to do with it. Even without a great draft this year we all know BB has a lot of options to keep improving this team.
If only he could finally pull off some of his draft day magic we all know him for we could truly be a contender very soon.

    @ Cameron:
They had to make it to the finals or something like that in order for us to get the pick.

    @ Uncle Paul:
Edmonton is not windsor spitfires that team was as stacked as anything and Hall looked great playing with them…………the Oilers well they where stacked for many years with gretzky and mess and the boys…………but these Oliers are not the oilers of the 80′s……..Hall will have a tough First 3-4 years there…………Yes they got alot of young players on the way up……….But they will not go out and get any big name free agents this year………got burned the past few years with the signings…….so what you see is what you get….

We would of only got the Rangers 4th rounder if they advanced to the second round of the playoffs last year.
Does anyone know why we traded the 6th round pick to Pittsburgh for Chris Peluso? (who I hear we are not even signing) Do you think it had anything to do with Pittsburgh wanting compensation for trading Skoula to the Devils right after the Poni trade?

I think Burke did it to help Pittsburg, so the Poni/Caputi deal could happen, knowing he was getting a 5th for Skoula.

I am not sure I would work my ass off for a pick this year unless it was real high and couldn’t be resisted. Seems hardly worth it.
