The word out of Los Angeles today remains that Brian Burke has yet to receive an acceptable offer for Tomas Kaberle. While talks are said to be heating up according to Pierre LeBrun’s twitter (rumoured to involve Buffalo, Boston and Los Angeles), Burke appears to be tempering expectations and maintaining the possibility that Kaberle remains a Leaf come Saturday. It could well be that Burke quietly slips out of Los Angeles with only with only six third – seventh round picks to his name. Nonis will keep Burke in check if he is seriously considering Drury…which I doubt.

I want some excitement tomorrow night as much as anybody, but I kind of hope Burke waits until after July 1st to deal Kaberle… apparently the Flyers and Hamhuis are pretty far apart in their negotiations and he may want to go home to B.C… if Hamuis does sign with Vancouver, we just might be able to pry Carter out of Philadelphia who apparently is being shopped…

    @ 50 Mission Cap:
I hear that – Carter might be a pipe dream, but if I’m BB I’d put a little extra effort into getting Carter if he is available. Definitely a WAY WAY better target than 32-year-old Savard with multiple concussions and his cap-hit!

Yes – Carter, Perry, Kovalchuk (8M or less, 5 yrs or less)

    No – Drury, Savard.

    Am I caught up?

I disagree on no Drury. Yes his cap hit is bad, but his term is short. He’s done after 11/12. If Burke can get significant assets as incentive to take him, and can keep enough cash free to sign next year’s RFAs, I wouldn’t be opposed to having him here. Good veteran presence, and good depth player. Not worth the money, but if he comes with some fancy prospect, why not?

    @ Charlie:
whaaa.. Rangers in the mix now?, I would want Dubinsky and one of their high end prospects. I doubt they give up their 1st overall pick

But where does Dubinsky fit? Another centre…..

    Callahan would be my choice.

NY might be a fit….with a little creativity.
    .
Let’s say we take Drury, but it costs them a D prospect (Del Zotto,Sanguinetti, etc.), plus one of Stepan or Krieder. Suddenly the deal looks much more enticing, no?
