McKeen's Hockey Annual Yearbook

It’s been quite the time span since my last post here. But as many of you know, I’ve been working on the McKeen’s Hockey Annual Yearbook. That is in addition to the work on the player profiles for the Maple Leafs Annual.

So to kick things off, and to change the subject from Tomas Kaberle, here are my player predictions for the Maple Leafs this season after the jump.
(NOTE*** Predictions appearing the McKeen’s Annual Yearbook are decided as a collective from many different sources. These values will unlikely appear as they indicated below in the publication.)

No Player Pos Age GP G A Pts
81 Kessel, Phil RW 22 75 35 27 62
42 Bozak, Tyler C 24 77 19 38 57
32 Versteeg, Kris RW 24 80 24 28 52
15 Kaberle, Tomas D 32 80 7 45 52
3 Phaneuf, Dion D 25 78 14 37 51
41 Kulemin, Nikolai LW 24 80 20 22 42
84 Grabovski, Mikhail LW 26 70 17 25 42
9 Armstrong, Colby RW 27 77 18 19 37
36 Gunnarsson, Carl D 23 79 6 18 24
22 Beauchemin, Francois D 30 78 6 17 23
39 Mitchell, John C 25 75 8 14 22
2 Schenn, Luke D 20 77 4 17 21
33 Caputi, Luca LW 21 60 9 10 19
43 Kadri, Nazem C 19 35 10 6 16
11 Sjostrom, Fredrik RW 27 65 5 7 12
8 Komisarek, Mike D 28 70 2 8 10
20 Hanson, Christian C 24 42 4 2 6
4 Finger, Jeff D 30 32 2 4 6
Lebda, Brett D 28 42 2 4 6
28 Orr, Colton RW 28 80 2 3 5
18 Brown, Mike RW 25 70 2 1 3

Notes:

I’m not sure of the status of Finger and may not see him getting buried as most expect. I’ve included a prediction should he stay with the Leafs.

Don’t believe Nazem Kadri will stick with the Leafs all season and will spend some time with the Marlies. Perhaps more so than most fans will want, and the battle cries to get him into a Leafs uniform may force the issue. Regardless, there are still inconsistencies in his game that have to be worked out before a full blown step into the NHL. His prediction takes this into consideration.

Luca Caputi could also use some time in the minors to work on various aspects, including pace and upgrading his skating. However, with the necessity of filling out a roster, he could get a spot by default. His prediction takes this into account.

Tomas Kaberle is still included in this list. Should there be a change in the roster, obviously these values will change with that.

Sundin was a piece of meat who owed it to Leaf fans who have watched losing hockey. Nevermind the corporation. That’s a straw man. Sorry!

Mats among greatest Leafs ever? Maybe – based on lack of competition! LOL.

But when you look at even modern day players, he couldn’t carry Dougie’s jockstrap. Or Clark’s. He was a point getter, not a leader.

I’m sure Mats didn’t want to abandon his teammates and that’s why he nixed the deal – for they were surely headed for the Cup! And how would his teammates ever survive without him? Very thoughtful!

Maybe Mats should have thought how his teammates would benefit from the assets his dumb ass could have brought the team during another mediocre season in his setting career.

That would have been A WHOLE LOT more thoughtful!. Yeah!

Unfortunately, Naps simply felt rather cozy with his place on a losing team and didn’t want any change, a la Kabs. (Er. Until he changed his mind.)

I love when star-struck little Fan-Boys feel mortally wounded for a guy who made off with $70 million from Toronto fans. You’ve been played.

    Sucker!

Another way to look at a Clowe+1st trade
We will either have Caputi/Meuller/D’amigo in the lineup if we dont add anyone else. Soooo….
those 3, I find it VERY unlikely they could score more then 30 PTS as a rookie.
Kaberle is usually a lock for about 50 PTS

So with kaberle and a top 6 we have now 30+50 = 80 pts
IF Kaberle gets Clowe, and he scores 60 PTS like I think he will playing top line mins
So its a matter of who will we add to get the rest of the 20 PTS or more? Then think is it worth it?
I think so. Basic value of having 3 more years at a lower price.

I find it odd that there are no other rumblings about any trades across the NHL. Are any of you hearing anything other than Kaberle stuff? We cannot be the only team trying to move someone. Even Savard rumours have dropped off.

I don’t like Ovechkin and I don’t think I ever will. That MY opinion, and I not that it’s right IMO.
Semin may turn around, but I still don’t like him. In my mind, Im not wrong, I may change my mind, but..
    .
If I realize Im wrong, Ill typically admit it. But I won’t in this case, because I don’t think In wrong.

    @ UncleJakesCards:
I wouldn’t compare him to Bobby Ryan, but than again BR plays with Getzlaf and Perry pretty good line mates. I don’t know what to think about a Clowe trade but if its all thats out there I think BB makes the deal and Clowe adds toughest and a guy who will crash and stand in front of the net on the PP. I thinkhe makes the Leafs a better team for sure
