Armstrong Out, Caputi Up?

According to Nick Kypreos, the Maple Leafs could be without winger Colby Armstrong for four to six weeks as he may need surgery on his hand. Dreger adds that the team is expected to call up Luca Caputi from the Marlies to replace Armstrong on the third line, but Colby’s absence will leave a void in terms of physicality and strong board play.

Caputi has recorded just 2 goals and 1 assist through 6 games played for the Marlies, but showed improved skating ability and poise playing against NHL players this preaseason. Prior to the start of the season, Burke alluded to the improvement in the organizational depth as a key factor in the team’s potential success, and this will be the first test of that theory.

If Giggy keeps playing like he is and starts 50 ish games this year then he is on pace for 33 wins this year which also means he’ll hit a second milestone this year (he hits his 500 game mark in two more games) with 250 wins which is cool. I am so bored at work atm so thats why I am spouting useless facts…

    @ Uncle Otis:

Totally agree. I cant beleive how NOT on board he is.

Also its starting to bother me that it sounds like hes salivating on his mic all the bloody time.

PLUS Quit picking on Phaneuf! Yeah he was pinching and got caught bad the previous 2 games. BUT WATCH KULEMIN When Dion gets down low he goes to the point ive seen him do it a bunch of times.

Now is when things should get interesting. With Kadri witnessing a teammate take the promotion before him, he could sulk (which I doubt), or he could really begin to go on a tear for the Marlies.
In other news, I noticed that nobody mentioned anything, but Burke has been scouting a kid by the name of Spencer Abbott out of Maine. The kid is also being looked at closely by the Dallas Stars organization. He wouldn’t be eligible for a signing until his season concludes, but it is best to keep an eye on him in the interim.
