Armstrong Out, Caputi Up?

According to Nick Kypreos, the Maple Leafs could be without winger Colby Armstrong for four to six weeks as he may need surgery on his hand. Dreger adds that the team is expected to call up Luca Caputi from the Marlies to replace Armstrong on the third line, but Colby’s absence will leave a void in terms of physicality and strong board play.

Caputi has recorded just 2 goals and 1 assist through 6 games played for the Marlies, but showed improved skating ability and poise playing against NHL players this preaseason. Prior to the start of the season, Burke alluded to the improvement in the organizational depth as a key factor in the team’s potential success, and this will be the first test of that theory.

The question I ask is a short-term boost in offense plus a 1st rnd pick worth Gunner and Mitchell?

He’s wrong…simple as that.Last year we were leading in shots on goal and had a brutal PK.
This year the opposite and we’ve tightened up on shots against.
Berger,Watters,Pierre,Millen, the whole HNIC colour crew(Not Don and Ron)…
Toronto needs a full blown media transfusion

He doesn’t care so long as he can give us every explicit detail about our 4th liners midget career and tell us that his dad’s brother’s best friend’s gardener’s son used to play on the same team… in 1962, for two games.

    @ the Surreal McCoy:
While I don’t care what numbers guys wear usually ex-captain’s numbers should be shied from unless it is a special player. Caputi isn’t special enough if you ask me to be wearing 17 just as nobody is special enough to wear 13 just yet. I debated with Oiler guys that since Hall seemed special he should get the number 4 (Kevin Lowe’s old number).

Can’t believe all the attention this blown call is getting. This happens to the Leafs 5 times a year, and no one bats an eye.

    @ Cameron:
Because 80% of the West hates the Leafs (Especially BC), Quebec hates the Leafs, half the Maritimes hates the Leafs, the media dislikes the Leafs even the Toronto media and 30% of Ontarians hate the Leafs because they are either Sens/Habs fans or those emo kids that want to be different. With odds like that of course everybody will pay attention to us getting a break.

Leafs press release specifically identifies an injury to Armstrong’s finger. I’m told it’s tendon related.

#13? It should be officially emblazened on all MLSE toilet paper!

With hungry young players both on our AHL and NHL teams, no one can honestly look back and miss that 30 goal floater.
