As the Marlies lead the Grand Rapids Griffins 3-0 in the third in today’s school day game (red hot Rynnas is in net, goals from Hanson, Mueller and Crabb), here’s your weekly report from the Marlies:
“The Marlies finished their 10-game road trip on Friday night in Lake Erie. During their longest road swing of the year, Toronto went 6-1-0-3 which included a nine-game point streak.
- Jussi Rynnas ranks third in the AHL in save percentage (0.939) and is fifth in goals against average (1.87). Rynnas has appeared in eight games during the month of November, posting a record of 3-2-2 to go along with a 1.28 goals against average and 0.960 save percentage. This month the Finnish born goalie hasn’t allowed more than two goals in any of his appearances.
- Greg Scott recorded his first career three-point game on Saturday against Hamilton with a goal and two assists. In Sunday’s 3-1 loss to the Bulldogs, Scott was named the game’s second star.
- Goaltender Ben Scrivens earned his first career AHL victory in his debut on Saturday. Scrivens made 33 saves in regulation time, and six more in the shootout for the win.
- The Marlies own a record of 8-2-2 when their opponents out-shoot them. Toronto ranks 27th in the league, allowing 33.3 shots per game.
- Defenceman Mike Brennan ranks seventh (tie) in the league with a plus-nine rating.
- Toronto holds a record of 9-1-1 when they score three or more goals in a game.
- The Marlies penalty killing unit ranks fifth in the AHL with an 87.9% success rate. Their PK unit on the road has only allowed five goals on 52 opportunities.
- The Marlies seven road victories this season rank tied for second in the AHL. The W-B/Scranton Penguins nine road wins pace the league.
- Despite being called up by the Maple Leafs two weeks ago, Nazem Kadri still ranks fourth in the AHL in rookie scoring with 14 points.

Last Week:
The Marlies finished their season high 10-game road trip last week with a pair of losses. On Tuesday night in Hamilton, the Marlies dropped a 2-1 decision in a shootout. Danny Richmond’s first as a Marlie was Toronto’s only goal in the game. Dale Mitchell’s second goal of the season wasn’t enough on Friday night as the Lake Erie Monsters defeated the Marlies 2-1 in Cleveland. Jussi Rynnas made 24 saves in the loss.
Over the weekend the Marlies and Bulldogs played back-to-back games at Ricoh Coliseum. Toronto won the contest on Saturday, 4-3 in a shootout. Greg Scott led the charge with a goal and two assists; while Josh Engel’s goal with just over a minute remaining sent the game to extra time.
On Sunday, the Bulldogs beat Toronto 3-1 in the final few minutes of the game.

Upcoming Opponents:
The Marlies open up their three game week on Wednesday morning in their first school day game of the year against the Grand Rapids Griffins.
The Marlies lost a 6-3 decision on October 24 to the Griffins. Justin Hodgman scored twice in the three-goal loss.
Toronto travels to Rochester on Friday night to take on the Americans for the second time this season. The Marlies lost the first matchup between the two teams in the season opener, 4-2. The Marlies hold a record of 7-2-0-3 on the road this season and have the sixth best road penalty kill at 88.5%. The Amerks have dropped four of their past five games.
The Syracuse Crunch make their first of two trips to Ricoh Coliseum on Saturday afternoon for a 3 p.m. contest. The Crunch are winless over their past five games and rank third in penalty minutes (422). Forward Jon Mirasty ranks third in the league with 67 penalty minutes.

Reading Report:
The Reading Royals currently rank second in the Atlantic division with a record of 9-6-0. The Royals have won eight of their past 10 games. Forward Mikhail Stefanovich was re-assigned to the Royals on Saturday afternoon. The Royals play three games this week, all in Reading.”
