Kadri Sent Back Down

"You're kidding! I only have to beat out Brett Lebda for an NHL job?"

Kadri‘s allowed to play again! After a rocky stretch in and out of the press box the last couple of nights, including one game where Nazem was benched in favor of the ever dangerous (for which team is up to you) Brett Lebda at forward, the Maple Leafs‘ 2009 1st round pick has been sent back down to the AHL’s Toronto Marlies. He will rejoin game action after serving out a two-game suspension that was handed out just before his NHL call-up. Through the first 17 games of his NHL career, Kadri was goalless with 6 assists and a minus 4 rating.

    @ FlappyPaddle:
Well I guess we wait and see what comes from Wilson or someone in the organization as to why they made this move.

I just PRAY that the Leafs organization does not give up on Kadri.. He doesn’t need to be rushed, just let the kid develop and I think he will find his touch. And once he does, look out! Because once he takes off, I think he will never look back.

Once Wilson is gone, whether it is sometime this year or next year, the new Leaf coach will have a much better appreciation of Kadri and Kadri will flourish.
The hard part will be listening to someone give Wilson the credit for making the hard choice and sending Kadri to the Marlies.

Geeze bye don’t you know EK is never wrong. But if by some minor mircle he is then Kadri going down makes a little more sense. Moving roster peices to make room for more players.

guys writing is on the wall burkes gunna grab rolston on re entry waivers. kadri was not suppose to go down but did to make room for him thats the first thing. The other being that rolston was put on waivers and they didnt do anything with him untill burke lifted his roster freeze.

I think your right but I think theres a couple other teams that may look at him aswell.

Kadri going down is probably just Burke coming to his sences. He stated in no uncertain terms if Kadri was not getting top six minutes he would be on the Marlies.
He finally just had enough of Wilson playing games and realized what was best for Kadri’s development.
Burke may make other moves but Kadri’s move to the Marlies was surely Burke waking up.

Good move sending Kadri down imo. He needs as much ice time as possible.

Picking up Rolston on waivers does not hurt other than cap wise. This move might make it harder making trades if it involves taking on salary.
I do not see Burke trading for a centre. He has indicated he is after a big winger.

    @ Dan hockey fan:
didn’t he just say a big top 6 forward? as in he doesn’t care if its a centre or winger?

Heres my “this is bullshit but i’m bored” post of the day :D
    .
Rolston will be claimed and is actually just a part of a bigger deal being done by the Devils and Leafs. The deal will see us add size down the middle on the 3rd line along with a talented young top line winger (yup Parise), it will also see us land Rolston who will fill in the top line and 3rd line LW until Parise is cleared to play. But don’t fret Leafs fans, the Devils will be taking back some salary too, in essence part of the deal involves Lebda for Rolston.
    To TOR:
Parise, Zubrus, Rolston (off waivers), Nick Palmieri (cap hit = 10M approximately)
    To NJD:
Versteeg, Lebda, Sjostrom, Gunner, Caputi, 3rd (cap hit = 6.8M approvimately)
    .
Essentially, as I said, the trade breaks down as Rolston for Lebda, Caputi and Sjostrom for Palmieri and Versteeg, Gunner, a 3rd and 3.2M in cap space for Parise and Zubrus. Just an idea. Why would we do it? We lose a couple of good prospects and take on some useless contracts in Zubrus and Rolston but we get another top line superstar. Why do they do it? Some believe Parise is disgruntled with management and the likes of Sjostrom, Gunner and Versteeg could thrive in their system and play right now while Caputi is still a valueable prospect, they also get some valuable cap space while not downgrading their current club too much. Obviously Versteeg is a downgrade from Parise but he’s still young and a solid 2nd liner. Our future lineup would look like:
    .
    Parise Zubrus Kessel
    Kulemin Grabs Mac
    Rolston Bozak Armstrong
    Brown Brent Orr
    .
I’d be happy with that. Now that thats done i’ll quietly go back to my boredom lol

    @ 4evrblue:
What a great idea, lets bring in four players from one of the only teams that are actually worse than us!!
Although it’d be tempting to get Parise, I don’t like having to take on Rolston and don’t think Zubrus is the top line center the team needs. I’d much rather keep the $3.2 million cap space and go hard after Richards this summer, while retaining Versteeg, Caputi and Gunnarsson.
