The rainy conditions in Pittsburgh have forced CBC into a tough scheduling decision now that tonight’s Battle of Ontario conflicts with the weather-delayed Winter Classic. The loser is the out of province Leafs fan. CBC has regionalized their programming for tonight as Ontario viewers will watch the Sens and Leafs all the way through while the rest of the country breaks for the Winter Classic at 8 p.m. EST. The solution for those out of province will be to watch the game online on the CBC stream once the switch happens. You can do so here.
The Leafs head to the nation’s capital looking to put the right foot forward towards a more successful 2011 that hopefully doesn’t see another lottery pick relinquished to the Bruins. While the latest skid hasn’t squarely fallen on Gustavsson, a few less than stellar performances and five consecutive games from the Swede will see James Reimer get his first career NHL start tonight. The Senators are in a slightly better but still grim situation at 16-18-5 and are looking to get their push to the playoffs underway before it’s too late. Hopefully the Leafs help dig the hole a bit deeper for them tonight. The Leafs get a boost in the return of Mikhail Grabovski, who the Leafs looked scary thin down the middle without on Thursday. He looks to extend a personal points streak to seven and get within 18 games of Crosby’s mark this season.
