Per mapleleafs.nhl.com, the Toronto Maple Leafs have announced that forward Mike Brown has agreed to a three-year contract extension.

Brown, who was set to become a RFA on July 1st, has averaged 10:03 TOI per game on primarily fourth-line and penalty-killing duty.

Despite seeing limited action, he has had a positive impact on the club with his inspired, energetic play.

.

Originally acquired from the Anaheim Ducks for a 5th round pick (Chris Wagner), Brown has recorded 2 goals, 3 assists, and 41 PIM in 27 games this season while missing 20 games to injury (groin, finger) and 3 to suspension. He is also tied with Tim Brent for the team lead in plus/minus, with a +3 rating.

Per ESPN’s Pierre Lebrun, Brown’s contract will pay $760,000 in 2011-12, and $725,000 in both 2012-13 and 2013-14. In each year, the cap hit will work out to be $736,667.

Only problem is his injuries, he misses alot of games. Id love to pick him up for the kessel line with bozak but those injuries keep him back

i want a veteran for that line that knows how to play a little defense. Think steve sullivan, paul kariya types. In the off season i wanted burke to go after ray whitney and he wouldve made a huge addition to that second line. I like hemsky and all but hes gunna cost a boat load to aquire or even sign and i dont see him bringing anything to this team we dont already have.

i would prefer weiss but i think florida will only move him if they can pick up some draft picks which we dont have enough of. Setoguchi would be more likely as we have roster players that could actually make a difference on that san jose club.

Florida is still in the hunt and I doubt very much they’ll move Weiss. Plus, he has a NMC and getting players living in Florida to waive it is probably highly unlikely.

Seto would look amazing with Bozak and Kessel. And they are all within the same age range. Seto hits alot, hes shown hes capable of putting the puck in the net. good playoff performer, and hes feisty. i think he’d be a great fit.

Heres hoping those Beauch for Seto + late pick are true

Agreed. On slow days at work (like today) I try and check out MLHS as much as possible, and today has been quite slow, making my work day much more slow :P … I enjoy reading all you frequent posters comments on a daily basis :D We needs some trades to spark some conversation!
