I did NOT want Beauchemin gone. He was NOT the problem. Nevertheless, getting Gardiner + Lupul is fantastic hockey value for him, even though adding Lupul will be as big of a cap/roster-clogging mistake as adding Jason Blake was.
    .
Blake 2.0, but always hurt. And what line does he play on?

Lupul is on the books through 2012/13 season. So time will tell if this is a mistake. But I am still good with the trade, we needed to shift cap room off of D.

Wow, 5 points by Hanson today (1 Goal and 4 Assists)
    .
Huge deal for the Leafs, they finally have the winger with size to play with Kessel, although I’m gonna miss Beauchemin and his 25 minutes a night.
I sure hope this doesn’t mean Lebda is back in the lineup, hopefully Aulie is called up to replace Beauchemin, although I’d rather see Gunnarsson with Phaneuf and Aulie with Komisarek.
    .
I guess this means Burke will be making a push to bring Kaberle back in the off-season.
So, what does everybody think the lines will look like on Thursday night??
    Kulemin – Graobvski – Kessel
    MacArthur – Bozak – Versteeg
    Lupul – Boyce – Armstrong
    Rosehill – Brent – Sjostrom/Crabb
    .
    Gunnarsson – Phaneuf
    Kaberle – Schenn
    Aulie/Lebda – Komisarek

    @ peterbleafs:

Yes, but not INTO an underachieving, always-injured forward who adds one more body to the glut of relatively inconsistent middle-line talent we already have up front.
    .
But that’s all the scorn I’ll heap for now – Burke MUST have something else up his sleeve.
    .
Regardless, Gardiner’s a prize and the deal is a hockey value win for Toronto.

    Kulemin Grabovski Kessel
    Lupul Bozak MacArthur
    Versteeg Brent Armstrong.

Man now we need a 2nd line centerso Bozak can center Versteeg and Armstrong.

Lupul has only been getting 13 minutes a night in Anaheim, 2 of that on the PP. If he gets more ice here, his numbers should improve.

If true we can expect a resigning of Kaberle within weeks.

Guess this means Crabb will be sent down, so the trade up front is Lupul for Crabb. On defense its Beauchemin for Aulie likely.

With this kind of trade value the price for Kaberle has to be pretty damn high. Cap issue and all, this is a very good deal for Beauchemin.

    @ Cactus:
The Ducks also have another defenceman by the name of Justin Shultz on the same team as Gardiner who has 39 points in 30 games.

Any word on what happened with Gustavsson? Injury? Trade? Didn’t want him injured in an early blow because of a Jiggy trade perhaps?
