My Name Is Jonas, Gustavsson

Why not take a little break from the intense trade rumours playoff chase and enjoy this little parody I put together of Weezer’s “My Name Is Jonas.” Follow me on twitter @SantosDan

My name is Jonas
Sent down by the Leafs
Thanks for all you’ve shown us
This is how we feel

Get well in two weeks
Man the Marlies‘ crease
Just like Pogge did
Before he went crazy
Kessel got picked last
At the all-star draft
Got a brand new car
Pretend to laugh ’bout it

Boo birds too much of the time
Ticket costs make ‘em go blind
The fans say, “Hey man, we can go all the way”
I guess we can plan the parade

My name is Wilson
Head coach of Darryl Boyce
Fresh out of ideas
But I’ll still juggle lines, juggle lines

Tell me what to do
When the goals run dry
Now this Phil won’t chat
And you know what else?
Guess what I received
In the mail today
Words of deep concern
From my general manager

Rebuilding’s not going as we planned
Armstrong has injured his hand
Lebda cannot take a pass
I hope we don’t finish in last

The waffles are coming down
The waffles are coming down
The waffles are coming down
The waffles are coming down
Yeah

My name is Jonas

It depends on the return. We can trade Kaberle’s rights for a 2nd round pick for sure, given the value of Hamhuis last summer. Boston’s offer has to be significant enough to make it worth us giving them a higher pick (as our standing will presumably drop without our best defensemen). If we get a a 2nd and a prospect from them, but they get a top 3 pick, we lose the deal. I’d rather they get eliminated from the playoffs early, and have us hand them the 10th overall pick, and then us just nab a 2nd rounder for his rights. Your tune, and everyone elses, would changes pretty quick if Boston won the Cup, then drafted Landeskog with our pick. Oh, but we’d have Joe Colborne, lol.

Sorry man, BUrke said he will NEVER trade a tough guy within his own conference.

Tough guys can be replaced IMO! They are a dime a dozen in the minors! It will not negate a deal that Burke likes!

Depends when you think the future is. The future is sooner with Kaberle on our roster. I know it’s unlikely, but imagine we sign Laich and Richards in the summer, and we just resign Kaberle:
    -
    Lupul – Richards – Kessel
    MacA – Grabovski – Kulemin
    Army – Bozak – Laich
    Hanson – Brent – Brown
    (Orr)
    -
    Kaberle – Schenn
    Phaneuf – Aulie
    Komi – Gunnarsson
    -
    Gustavsson – Reimer
    -
Suddenly, the future is now. Players like Richards and Laich are also more likely to come here if we have more pieces in place. It’s such a delicate balance.

It’s just within the division he won’t do it. It’s a principle he says he won’t break. These guys are almost always adored in the locker room. Imagine if Orr was traded to Montreal, and he found himself having to fight Armstrong or Brown. Hard for your heart to be in it when your buddies. That’s why we moved Belak far away.

boston winning the cup doesnt hurt the leafs in the future. losing kab for notinhg, does hurt the leafs. whether boston picks 5th or 15th, with our pick, it dfoes not affect our progress whatsoever.

Don’t believe everything that Brian Burke says! He has been known to play the field! Okay, I’m gullible, what sucks?
Suddenly we have two young centres in Kadri and Caron, and two 1st round draft choices to stock for the future. We also have cap room to either sign Brad Richards or deal for a front line player(s).
    What’s your plan?

    @ LoMac:
I keep hearing ahlers in return so that would lead me to believe if we are lucky Colborne (I’m only saying this because he is ranked #2 in their prospect depth chart) but the fact they have so many centres now tells me Wheeler

Well the reported Wheeler and a 1st seemed reasonable? To think that Colborne has more value to a team looking to contend than wheeler does?

Wheeler plays center as well some of the time. If they plan to grab Kaberle and make a run for it this year who would they rather have on their 3rd line Colborne or Wheeler?

If you honestly believe the complete drubbing the media would give us for years would not effect us, then I won’t be able to convince you of anything. The media has already convinced the world that Seguin is an absolute all-star in the making that Toronto just gave away. I can’t imagine what they would do if Kaberle was the piece that helped them win the Stanley Cup, and then they drafted Gabriel Landeskog 3rd overall. Good God, the media nightmare would never end. Burke would likely have to step down, or get a “promotion” just to allow the team to function.
