MLHS Morning Mashup: Tampa Strikes Back

After watching the playoffs from the sidelines for the past few seasons, the Lightning have made the most of their first post season appearance since 2007. Tampa Bay looked shaky in the first two games of the series, but has settled into the series and have given the Penguins all they can handle.

Head coach Guy Boucher, one of the most promising young coaches in recent memory, has had a calming influence on his team. He has prepared his team to overcome back-to-back elimination games and fought back to tie the series at three games apiece. Led by Steve Downie’s game winner and a series of terrific saves from veteran backstopper Dwayne Rolson, the Lighting earned a 4-2 win to force game 7.

With all of their momentum of their side, Tampa looks to secure a spot in the second round when they visit the Pens in a do-or die situation on Wednesday.

Majors, Attack take commanding series leads

Mississauga and Owen Sound both have 3-1 leads in their respective series’ and can advance to the OHL championship with wins on Wednesday.

Last Night in Leafs Prospects:

Owen Sound took a commanding 3-1 series lead over Windsor after defeating the Spitfires 3-2 last night. Jesse Blacker, who has been instrumental to the Attack’s success, has 12 points in 14 playoff games. Owen Sound can wrap up the series on Wednesday at home and secure a berth in the OHL finals. If recent history is any indication, the Spitfires cannot be taken lightly. They came back from a 3-0 series deficit and beat out the Kitchener Rangers en route to their Memorial Cup championship.

Your Say:

Can the Lightning continue their success into game 7 and close out the Penguins? Will Boston close out it’s series against Montreal tonight or do the Canadiens still have hope? What are your predictions for game 7 of the Vancouver/Chicago and Philly/Buffalo series?

    Good morning everyone.
    -
MAF will have to find his game if the Pens are to beat the bolts but don’t think for one minute he can’t ,he’s been down this road many times before. Wouldn’t even attempt to call that series.
    -
I expect Boston to win tonight . Timmy T has found his form and Boston will not want a repeat of last year’s playoffs. Expect Boston to play extremely hard tonight.
    -
Luongo is starting ,at least that what Van is saying right now. He has to step up for once in his career and I have my doubts about that. Crawford has been superb and the Hawks have awesome talent up front along with Cannuck killer Bolland. I expect the Balackhawks to win this one.
    -
Philly should take their series but Ryan miller is quit capable of stealing a game by himself. Should be a really good game.
    -
Lastly I’m happy to see Alec and his crew got everything back on track. I did like the Disqus system but that’s a personal preference. Whatever works for the majority of MLHS er’s is fine with me. Thanks for the effort guys ,it had to be a very frustrating weekend.

Why does anyone want boston or philly to win, its better if they lose for the leafs to have a better draft. Correct me if I’m wrong

So its starting to look a little iffy as to whether Richards will even reach free agency. I remember posting a link here a week or two ago about Tom Gaglardi being a possible buyer for the Dallas Stars. Sure seems like he’s the front runner. Any deal to purchase the Stars will most likely have to go through bankruptcy court and that may make the July 1st deadline a bit tight but the Stars look to be in a better position then they have been for some time. I believe Rusytnail referred to this last evening but here is the link to the developing story.

    @ FanSince1990:
My understanding is that it doesn’t matter as long as they lose in the second round.

    @ Burtonboy:
The sooner they lose, the better for us. Both need to exit in the first round.

Please read my post . I’m simply saying what I expect will happen not what I would like to happen. Big difference. Of course I want the Leafs to get the better picks. I just don’t expect that to happen in this round that’s all.

    .
I agree. But let them move up and get knocked out in the second round. We move up a bunch of spots in the draft, and they each move down a bunch in the draft. Even better for us.

    @ BKR17:
Bit of a surprise for me as well, but it was good to see those teams play. I rarely get to see many western teams play during the regular season because of all the late games. Nashville has superior goal tending and a superior defense. Very impressive IMO

Man, you old buggers really hate change. I like both, but now this seems a little unsophisticated or something after seeing the disqus format. Oh well, MLHS isn’t really about the posting method.
