Morning Mashup: Sharks Bounce Back

The San Jose Sharks have fought back and made the Western Conference final series much more interesting. Unlike years past, the Sharks’ received offensive support from top-to-bottom, most notably by Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton. Marleau was in fine form, notching two goals, including one on the power play. He is currently tied for the team lead with 7 goals in the post season. With that being said, Jumbo Joe Thornton has been the Sharks most consistent and versatile forward during the playoffs. His 14 assists (three last night) and 17 points are both team bests. It was the output by both Marleau and Thornton that enabled San Jose to regain life against Vancouver after being dominated in Game 2.

Oh, I’m quite confident that Joe will be a great top six player after seeing his rapid development in a system that cares about him and needs him to be great. Question though, if my hunch is right and Burke ends up adding two big centers (Richards + whoever), who do you remove from the lineup when Colborne is ready? Probably a question that you answer about 8 months from now, but interesting nevertheless.
    -
EDIT: And I don’t think it would be one of the centers he takes out, unless they move Grabovski to wing.

I hope one of or few of these scenarios unfold.
    -We Sign Richards
-We trade up the 1st + 2nd (hopefully bostons 2nd ;) ) to draft Mark McNeil or Ryan Strome, the other first to draft Puempel, or a solid PMD.
    -Sign Ville Leino
-Trade Tyler Bozak to Colorado for Kyle Cumiskey + a 3rd (Kyles got head problems, but is a good young option for PP QB; hes also my long time teammates older brother).
    - make a trade for Pavelski (without including Kadri, Colborne, or Aulie)
and BOOM! im the happiest guy in the world lol.
    -
    Lupul-Richards-Kessel
    Leino-Grabo-Kulemin
    Cmac-Pavelski-Armstrong
    Boyce-Brent-Brown
    -
    EX: Kadri, Colborne
    -
    Aulie-Phaneuf
    Schenn-Cumiskey
    Gunnarsson-Komi
    -
    EX: Gardiner, Blacker, Gysbers, Mikus
    Reimer
    Gus

Pavelski is not available. If anything, San Jose is going to look to add depth to their lineup next year. Cumiskey is the kind of guy you can pick up in a Lashoff-like situation. I think Kadri can do just as well as Leino given the opportunity next year. The ideas are all good though, and similar to mine:
    -
To COL: MacArthur, Bozak, Rynnas, 1st (PHI)
    To TOR: Stastny, 1st (STL)
    -
    Select Mika Zibanejad 11th overall
    -
To CGY: 1st (BOS), 2nd (TOR), 3rd (PHI)
To TOR: 1st (CGY), Kotalik (salary dump)
    -
    Select Mark McNeil 13th overall
    -
    Sign Brad Richards
    Sign Michael Rupp
    Sign Anton Babchuk
    -
    Waive Brett Lebda
    Waive Ales Kotalik
    -
    Army – Richards – Kessel
    Lupul – Stastny – Frattin
    Kadri – Grabovski – Kulemin
    Rupp – Brent – Brown
    (Orr)
    -
    Aulie – Phaneuf
    Gunnar – Schenn
    Babchuk – Komi
    (Lashoff)
    -
    Reimer – Gustavsson\
    -
If I keep saying it, I feel it is more likely to happen, lol.

Nope. He sux. I on the other hand suggested BB make a move with Anaheim for Loops last summer. We could have traded Finger for Lupul straight up. But as Lupul’s prognosis improved I countered with Beauch instead of Finger. Only proposal I’ve ever made. I am prolly never gonna stop reminding everyone. Maybe Bob is your uncle can dig up my original posts.

    @ canucksnaphook:

Oh yeah, I’ve been right about several of them. I just can’t claim credit for many of them because I post so many other ones, lol. I don’t make it clear which ones I really believe will happen, and part of that is that my opinion changes, and part of it is that player value is constantly changing. But I long supported Jordan on Giguere for Blake, arguing several times that we would actually be getting ripped off in that deal and could perhaps milk more out of the deal since Giguere was literally a 7 million dollar bag of useless to them and had NTC he was only waiving for Burke. About a month before the Phaneuf deal I predicted he would be a Leaf, and my proposed package was Beauchemin, Hagman and Stajan (I can prove this one, but it might take me a while to find the link). Imagine my surprise when we got Aulie and Sjostrom as well, and also dropped Mayers. I then later predicted, and you can ask MLHS poster Charlie about this if you ever come across him, that Burke would only deal Beauchemin back to Anaheim as Francois never wanted to leave. Most recently, two nights before the Kaberle trade I predicted the exact return down to the conditional (although I did say it might be Caron instead of Colborne). More importantly, I said all along that Kaberle definitely would waive if it came to that, and he didn’t let me down.
    -
So I post a lot of ideas. Some people will say that you throw enough ideas out and you’re bound to be right about something eventually. That’s true, but regardless of whether or not things go down, I’ve noticed that my perception of trade value has been pretty bang on. Occassionally I’m blown away (ie. Carcillo for Upshall + 2nd), and occassionally I’m caught wearing the blue and white goggles (thought Burke could have pushed for Versteeg + for JVR), but generally I think I’ve got the hang of value and evaluating the circumstances surrounding potential movement.

Jordan called it months in advance of it happening. We talked about it all the time. Some people thought it would cost at least a 1st just to get Giguere, and another 1st to get them to take Blake, lol.

I recall, you don’t need the proof. I argued against it, saying that Lupul was too risky. That got thrown back in my face, but to fair, I had changed my stance once Lupul actually played and seemed decent again. Even now I don’t know if I would accept just Lupul for Beauchemin. Getting Gardiner back was the best.

I called the Cup finalists and eventual winner, 3 years straight, during training camp, albeit not on here, so no one will believe me. It’s true though. Won myself an Xbox 360 in a bet with a friend. Solid guy for paying up, I gotta say..

ahah yeah adding a first rounder into it would make it believable… but what my comment said was predicting the ACTUAL TRADE that went down..
