Morning Mashup: Eastern Conference Showdown

With the Vancouver Canucks having been on the sidelines for several days now, all of the attention has shifted towards the Eastern Conference finals, with Game 7 set for tonight in Boston. The entire series has been as unpredictable as it has been exciting. The Lightning have had four five goal outings in the series (Games 1, 2, 4 and 6) disrupted by 1-0 and 3-1 losses in Games 3 and 5. We’ll see if Tampa Bay can produce offensive success in the seventh and deciding game and if Dwayne Roloson provides the backing necessary to make it hold up.

I like his analysis. The thing is though, that his linemates likely aren’t going to improve in the next year or two since they would have no money to surround him with anyone. If you’re going to blame his poor production on linemates, than keeping him only makes sense if you can improve that situation. By the time they are competitive again and can give him quality wingers, he’ll be coming to UFA.

The tom toms are starting to beat pretty good Cameron. I’ve noticed a lot more speculation surrounding not only Carter but several other players in the last few days We may see something similar to the deadline where the action started well ahead of schedule.

    @ rustynail:
I wouldn’t mind including him, but they need wingers, not centremen…if they wanted him, then yes, instead of a draft pick then.

    @ rustynail:
That third centerman position could go to Colbourne or Kadri then, depending on who is most ready to play defensively at the NHL level. Brent gets fourth line and PK duty…Burke signs a UFA defenceman and we trade Lebda for a bag of softballs (since he is so soft and not useful in a hockey way)…that leaves most of the team intact from the end of last year (Giggy back as back up to Reimer) and we start the season that way and go to Christmas and see where we are then.

    @ captain morgan:

Both brian burke and ron wilson said that kadri is better suited as a winger. I don’t think we will see him as a centre except for when ron wilson juggles the lines.
