According to a report in the Toronto Star, Maple Leafs‘ goaltender James Reimer has signed a multi-year contract with the club.

While terms of the deal have yet to be released, the contract is believed to be similar to that of Kings’ goaltender Jonathan Quick, who last season signed a 3-year contract valued at $1.8 million per season with Los Angeles.

More details to be posted as they become available.

Update: CapGeek has listed the deal as 3 years at $1.8 million per (5.4m total), identical to that of Quick.

I believe that if Burke signs Richards, he has a big trade up the sleeve.
Furthermore I also believe that he has this eyes on a defender.

if Burke signs Richards I think we should go small with defense acquisitions. I would like to see Lebda buried, then sign Mario Scalzo and Anton Babchuk.
    Aulie Phaneuf
    Gunner Schenn
    Babchuk Komi
    Scalzo
    .
I know people will come back with names like Pitkanen, Ehrhoff, Bieksa etc. but im not so sure that its necessary. That would be a solid defense squad while leaving room for guys like Gardiner to push for a spot.

In a draft where later picks really hold alot of value I’d like to see the leafs package together a larger amount of picks to move up into the earlier rounds.

The chance at say getting three picks in the 15-25 range versus say 8 picks in the first 6 rounds is very appealing.

We have great prospect depth and should look more to getting better prospects rather than continuing to build on what we have.

I would love to see us grab:

Jonathon Miller , McNeil, or Zibanejed

    Then

    Oleksiak, or Klefbom

    And a guy like

    Bartschi, Rattie or Puempel.

Obviously alot to ask but grabbing a guy in each of those groups would just make our overall prospect depth insane, and giving up some of the farm to do might be worth a look.

    @ Great Dane:
Once we sign Richards, we won’t want to ahve anything to do with a big bad contract…we’ll be about 3 million under the cap by the time we sign all our RFA’s and Richards at 8 million.

    @ 4evrblue:

Good call on Scalzo, can’t help but think it was a try out for him with team canada.
