According to a report in the Toronto Star, Maple Leafs‘ goaltender James Reimer has signed a multi-year contract with the club.

While terms of the deal have yet to be released, the contract is believed to be similar to that of Kings’ goaltender Jonathan Quick, who last season signed a 3-year contract valued at $1.8 million per season with Los Angeles.

More details to be posted as they become available.

Update: CapGeek has listed the deal as 3 years at $1.8 million per (5.4m total), identical to that of Quick.

    @ Jordan:
They do have a lot of cap space, but bringing in a whole new team of free agents doesn’t always work….just ask Cliff Fletcher! Or Glen Sather.

    @ Jordan:
Burke is thinking 3-4 moves ahead all the time. Good for the leafs. Then makes Nonis doing the wheeling and dealing with the GMs something Nonis is extremely good at.
5 years 7 million would be a good deal for the Leafs.
thinking along the lines of the article: Would a packages of Grabo, MacA, Gustavson and 2 1st make Tampa think about sending Stamkos and Malone north?

Source close to the #Leafs tells me Brian Burke started contract discussions with Luke Schenn “last week from what I’ve heard.”

Malone was asked to waive his NTC at the deadline to come here(supposedly), and he refused. Would have to be someone that has NTC probably

    @ Jordan:
I believe that if Burke signs Richards, he has a big trade up the sleeve.
Furthermore I also believe that he has this eyes on a defender.

Not for a top 6. If we have richards our forwards are set. He said that in April, he thinks Lupul is a #1 LW, Kessel a #1 RW, and obviously Mac Kule and Grabo are the #2 line, and then Kadri Bozak and Army were good together
    Lupul-Richards-Kessel
    Kulemin-Grabovski-Macarthur
    Kadri-Bozak-Armstrong
    Brown-Brent/Boyce-Orr

can’t decide which i like better:

    lupul – richards/stastny – kessel
    kulemin – grabovski – kadri
    colborne/frattin – bozak – armstrong

    OR

    lupul – richards/stastny – kessel
    kulemin – grabovski – macarthur
    kadri – bozak – armstrong

Just a feeling that Burke is up to something. Something out of nowhere like the Phaneuf deal.
