Thursday Morning Mashup: Another Beantown Beatdown

Let me just start by saying I was presently surprised by how the Bruins managed to stick to their gameplan last night in another route of the Canucks. What exactly is that gameplan? Hit, hit, and more hitting.

It’s just mind-boggling to see this series turn around the way it has. After the first two Canucks wins in Vancouver I figured they would go back to Boston, get a split and possibly end this thing on home ice Friday – not the case. And in a matter of two games I’m almost looking at this series in the sense that Boston were really two bounces away from a sweep.

The Canucks seem like a team capable of bouncing back, but I really thought they’d at least show some glimpses of that last night. They didn’t. Outside of a few great saves, which Tim Thomas is always good for, he basically got to watch his teammates pummel the Canucks players without a worry in the world.

Powerplay? Who cares. The Bruins penalty kill is making this series lopsided, and if they can just keep it up and manage to scrape out a win in Vancouver, this series is over in six. If the Bruins have a chance to hoist the mug at home, it’s happening. The Sedin’s may as well not even dress if that scenario presents itself.

    @ Bring the Cup Home:
I agree, not over 2.5 in my opinion, as he’s on par then with Kuli.

I’m guessing who ever doesn’t get RIchards goes for Carter. Burke and Sather are really good friends. They’re definitely going to make sure they each have got something at the end of the day…

Great news on the Reimer signing. Fair contract.
    -
Some guys on here think that just because Rangers are buying out to clear cap space means Leafs are out of the Richards race. Leafs and Rangers are still in the mix, don’t kid yourselves. Both GM’s have the money, and need the center. Leafs are maybe not as desperate as they are not cup contenders yet, rangers are closer to that status.
    -
Re MacArthur, I think he has a ton of grit and the Grabbo Kulemin Mac is a oerfect 2nd line as far as type of players and what they bring to the line, their cost, and their style of play. Mac has stated he dearly wants to stay here, Leafs will sign him to a decent fair contract somewhere in the 2.5 to 2.9 range for 2 to 3 years.

    @bigslapowski

Absolutely agree. Kessel would be a monster if he has that number one centre to play with.

If Richards doesn’t come here and Leafs go for Carter, anyone think Kessel will be moved out for either a playmaking 1st line winger with size or a Puck Moving Dman?

    @ Irishfanman:
They finally have Kessel playing the way they want him to play, so no they wil not be moving him….if they needed a playmaking winger on the that line, then look no further than Kadri to move up.

Yea, well, I’m not saying Bob’s the bible. All i’ve ever said is that he’s better than Eklund. He msut have sources too if he has called 10 things in the last 6 months. You don’t get lucky that often, even if you’re a huge sports fanatic.

That’s not bad at all either. I am not sure they would trade him to a divisional rival though. I know you think they don’t care about that sorta thing, but an 11 year reminder of a potential error might say otherwise. I think they would take that offer to the West and just say “please, somebody match this offer”.
    -
As for your Leino comment – yea, and they should be able to fit him in with 5.8 in cap sapce left.

Nope. I think if he got him he would only turn around and trade him.
