Maple Leafs re-sign Tyler Bozak for 2 years, $3 million

No word on the cap hit and term yet, but “Bozie” himself has confirmed that he will be returning with the Leafs. Sportsnet were the first to break the news and TSN 1050 Radio’s Rick Ralph has since reported it’s a two-year deal.

As a player who only produced 32 points in a full 82 game season of top six minutes alongside an elite finisher in Phil Kessel, and who is now expected to shift to a bottom six role going forward, you would expect something around $1.5 million per annum. More details as they become available.

Per TSN: “Bozak will reportedly earn $1.95 million over the two seasons of his contract.” $975,000 per annum.

Updated Update: Dreger reports that Bozak will actually make 1.5 million dollars per season over a two year deal.

    That’s my point. If you listened to Burke define his top 6 and bottom 6 when he first arrived he said the bottom 6 would be a bunch of plumbers and lunch bucket guys while the top 6 would be skilled and have the responsibility of scoring. In the new NHL the 3rd line has to be able to score as well as check. Our bottom 6 was horrible at scoring last year. It was a significant weakness.

    I’m still thinking that Burke has another big trade in him. One that will ship out money, but more importantly roster spots. He said he doesn’t like going into camp with pretty much all the spots spoken for. I would not be surprised to see an actual #1 C come in with Grabo, Komi, and 1 or 2 more roster players or prospects going the other way. Kadri will be here and Burke said he expects Frattin to make a strong push to make the team.

    You’ve misunderstood him I think. Do you remember his 3rd line when he won the cup. They were the ultimate plumbers in his mind. They checked the hell out of the other team and in the process, usually outscored the opposition. I’m sure that,s what he’s after here.

    I’m thinking he will quietly retire. He has 1 more year left, and considering Rosie got a 1 way contract, I think he can read between the lines. Rosehill is an energy guy on top of being an enforcer, kind of like Neil in Ottawa.

    We still have 7.66 million in cap space according to cap geek so if we can get Schenn at 3.5 per we still would have 4.16 in cap left.
