No word on the cap hit and term yet, but “Bozie” himself has confirmed that he will be returning with the Leafs. Sportsnet were the first to break the news and TSN 1050 Radio’s Rick Ralph has since reported it’s a two-year deal.

As a player who only produced 32 points in a full 82 game season of top six minutes alongside an elite finisher in Phil Kessel, and who is now expected to shift to a bottom six role going forward, you would expect something around $1.5 million per annum. More details as they become available.

Update
Per TSN: “Bozak will reportedly earn $1.95 million over the two seasons of his contract.” $975,000 per annum.

Updated Update: Dreger reports that Bozak will actually make 1.5 million dollars per season over a two year deal.

Don’t expect Lombardi to play until the end of the season should we make the playoffs. Until than, it’s Bozak centring the third line IMO

I don’t think Lombardi will play until the new year, if at all. I think Burke will trade for a 4th line center with size, grit and face-off prowess. I’m confident Kadri will make the team. I think Rosehill will be the 13th forward. Having said all that, there’s only one spot open and that’s a winger on the 4th line. I could potentially see Frattin fitting in there because of the type of player he is and because he could be insulated.

    Lupul, Connolly, Kessel
    Macarthur, Grabovski, Kulemin
    Kadri, Bozak, Armstrong
    Brown, Trade, ???
    Rosehill as 13th man

We currently have 7 true NHL top 6 defencemen so something will have to give there. I’m guessing Komi goes although I think we will miss his physicality and shot blocking. Based on recent UFA signings, Komi’s $4.5/yr for 3 years seems much more reasonable.

Good night all. Talk to you tomorrow.

I may be called crazy for this, but I keep getting a feeling Burke will try to get Malkin out of Pittsburgh. Jr. linemates and good friend of Kulimen’s, and Burke realizes that Kuli is one of the cornerstones of this team that’s just coming into his own. I think a package of Grabo,Gunner, and prospect, a 1st and a 2nd might get it done. Lupul-Malkin-Kuli and Mac-Connoly-Kessel. 2 top lines in the league!

He fits here with buddy Kuli. Gets to be a true #1. Kuli could be a 40 goal scorer with him. Plus Connoly is really good friends with Mac. It works for everybody!

Agree, and he would be the guy that would put us over the top. He would be one of the few guys that I would give the farm for. He just needs to work on his faceoffs

I was just trying to come up with who currently in the leafs system could fill the 4th line centre role… It looks like slim pickens, unless we re-sign Boyce it seems like we have to search for an outside player. I believe Marcell Muller can play centre, and it doesn’t look like he would be able to crack the leafs team any time soon in a bigger role, so maybe he can learn to play a lesser role if he wants to play in the bigs… I’m just not sure he has what it takes to compliment that line.

I know a lot of people on here were saying that they didn’t care if Mac didn’t resign, because it was Grabo and Kuli that kept that line together, but Mac was tied for 13th in assists among forwards last year. The guy can dish, and I think he was almost as integral to that line as the other two. I don’t think they would have been 30 goal scorers without Mac

If Mac does shows signs of weakness he is gritty enough to compliment the 3rd line well so he could just swap with Kadri, thats pretty much the worst case scenario so I think it’s as safe of signing as you can get.
