It’s speculative Saturday here at MLHS. With the roster looking more or less set to start the 2011-12 season, take a look deep into your crystal ball and predict what place the Leafs will finish in next season. Do you see them making the playoffs or falling short for a seventh straight season? Be fully honest and be sure to cite, you know, reasons, for your prediction.

MacTavish joins the Chicago Wolves, Muller’s the new head coach for the
Milwaukee Admirals. What other coaches are parking in the AHL to wait
for Wilson’s job to become open.

He is a good coach but a terrible driver.

To steer this conversation into a slightly more constructive direction: I would rather have Muller as a coach than MacTavish.

Muller will be a very good head coach in the NHL in a few years as will Gilmour. It seems as if Wayne broke the “star players can’t be head coaches” curse in the NHL

Gilmour is GM of his hometown Fortenacs. He is happy in the position and could very well stay there for many years before retiring. I’m not sure that he wants to come to Toronto and become a coach/GM. I think he’s comfortable with his family in Kingston with a relatively low-key job that keeps him near hockey.

I never said he’d come here to be Coach/GM. I just think that he will make a damn good coach one day.

Doug will end up in the NHL one day. Look at Yzerman…he went to TB, so no way to say where Dougie would go.

First of all, I thought Gretzky’s coaching record reinforced that star players can’t be good coaches. Secondly, Gilmour has been an adequate junior coach, but there’s nothing to suggest he’s ahead of dozens of other coaches in junior and AHL in the lineup to the NHL. Loved him and Gretz as players though.

Yzerman’s advantage is that he was schooled in hockey management by his involvement with the Detroit Red Wings. Organizationally, that is the model every NHL team should aspire to.

    I think I’m making a realistic judgment when I say you’re being
optimistic. ;) Seriously though, aren’t we just drinking a little too
much nostalgahol when we dream of new ways for Dougie glory.
