MacArthur suspended for two regular season games

Clarke MacArthur has been suspended for the remaining preseason game (tonight), along with 2 regular season games for his hit against the Wings’ Justin Abdelkader last night. You can check out the hit here and decide for yourself whether you believe this suspension was justified.

This is a pretty big blow to the Leafs considering MacArthur makes up a third of their best line alongside Grabovski and Kulemin. Stepping into that spot could be Kessel (or perhaps even Frattin?) which could cause the lines to shuffle a lot while MacArthur sits out. A second line of Bozak, Lupul and Armstrong could materialize as well. And of course, much of this still hinges on Tim Connolly‘s return.

With Matthew Lombardi‘s return to the lineup tonight, the line blending should be at an all-time high to start the season. Though, we’re still unsure as to whether he’ll be seeing much ice from the outset. Either way, things have gone from bad to worse for the blue and white with only five days until puck drop for games that actually matter.

    the thing that bothers me about healy is HE WAS A BACKUP goalie his entire career and ate more hotdogs on the bench then minutes played. he always talks about the current goalies not being in position or not playing the angles well, too many rebounds etc….i have no respect for a guy who was a horrible nhl goalie who turned into a horrible play by play analyst…

    I’m disappointed only because I’m fairly certain Abdelkadiver’s…err…Abdelkader’s theatrics helped make this look even worse.

    Will Ottawa and Detroit play each other this year? I’d love to see this clown and Neil collide and knock each other out for a game or ten with matching upper body injuries.

    he needs it, havent been impressed at all with his game thus far,,seems to be lacking the confidence of handling the puck. hope he gets going or hes gonna flip lines with frattin..

    Haha, yeah. His career numbers are terrible too. I don’t think a career 3.37 / .885 goalie should be giving any other goaltender any pointers in good conscious..

    i dont mind leafs tv, only guy i cant stand is another former goalie in greg millen..funny how all these ex goalies have gigs as an analyst….chico reach, john garrett, glen healy, darren pang, millen, kevin weekes (only guy i like)….im sure i missed more goalies…but these are the guys we usually see on the major networks.

    you know what i did forget about all those extra practices where he had the likes of messier, leetch, kovalev, graves, zubov shooting pucks at him….also, i forgot about how important it was to open and close the bench for the dman coming off the ice….good pt….lol
