Leafs shopping Franson?

” I heard from sources on other teams Monday that Gauthier was phoning around looking for help on defense. The thing is, he’s not alone. Tampa and the New York Rangers are among the other teams also looking for blue-line help. It just so happens that Cody Franson is available in Toronto, although I’m not sure whether any of those three teams have interest in him.”

This isn’t exactly surprising news. Franson really hasn’t panned out the way most expected, and though it’s early, he’s probably better off leaving town for more help up front. Keep a close eye on this one, those struggling teams will want to turn things around as soon as possible. Is Franson the solution to their problems? Probably not, but these are teams looking desperate to shake things up.

    No thanks. Again, Komi is better than Spacek right now and Moen doesn’t fill any need we have.

    Would rather just deal them both for draft picks.

    I think you’re forgetting that Schenn is only 21 years old and most defensemen don’t hit their prime until they’re about 29 years old.
    As a matter of fact, most defensemen are still playing in the AHL at 21 years old and aren’t going into their 4th NHL Season.

    i think it would be a mistake trading away Franson. He deserves to be getting minutes and i think could be a very good defender for us in the future. Hes probably worth more to us then other teams will give us for him.

    You’re probably right, but it’s what I would prefer. It feels like our team is a little full right now with players I either like on the team or want to see develop. I agree that Moen is a good PK’er, but I don’t want him to bump any of our current bottom 6.

    But I mainly just hate that Franson is sitting getting stale.

    Trading Franson now would be a case of buying low and selling low. Burke will try to optimize any return he gets for Franson if he is in fact on the block.

    I agree…I can take or leave Dupuis. I actually don’t think he’d have a job once all our centres are healthy. But who would you sit for Moen? Lombardi? Kadri?

    I wouldn’t mind Moen, but I really don’t think Burke will be making deals with the canadiens, so don’t get your hopes up.

    Here is what I hope to see on Thursday:

    Lupul – Connolly – Kessel
    MacArthur – Grabovski – Kulemin
    Kadri – Bozak – Frattin
    Lombardi – Steckel – Brown

    One of Dupuis or Rosehill sent down to make room, although my money is on Naz being sent down.
