James Reimer and the Toronto Maple Leafs look to bounce back tonight in Carolina.

After allowing 3 goals on just 8 shots in Tuesday night’s loss in Florida, Reimer will be right back in goal against the Hurricanes. He has struggled mightily on the road, sporting a 1-3-0 record with a 4.26 GAA and .852 SV%. Contrast that to a stellar 6-0-3 mark with a 2.27 GAA and .924 SV% at home.

Reimer will not be the only one trying to end his struggles on the road, as the Leafs penalty kill is just 7-for-17 in the last 4 road games. That’s a frightening 41.2%. Yikes.

Cody Franson looks to continue his recent strong play. Although he registered only 2 assists, Franson actually made nice passes to set up all 3 Leafs goals in Tuesday night’s loss. Perhaps it’s time to see Franson alongside Phaneuf the the top power-play unit, as Tim Connolly did not look good there against Florida.

Franson also leads all Leafs d-men with 6 points and a +6 rating in December. However, the Leafs have lost 5 of 7 games this month when he records a point and/or a plus-rating.

As for the Hurricanes, they’ve taken 3 of the last 4 meetings in Carolina. However, the Leafs took the most recent matchup (in Toronto) in overtime, despite Cam Ward’s exceptional 36-save performance.

The Leafs aren’t expected to make any lineup changes tonight, so no Korbinian Holzer.

The team has to come together just as it did in the 2nd half of last season. The talent is there, the commitment is there. This is on the players themselves to get the puck rolling. I would argue that it is probably only Phil, Luups and Dion that have really been giving it something special all season.

We’d still have Connolly next season, and who knows what will happen with Armstrong, so probably next year:
    -
    Lupul – Getz – Kessel
    Parise – Conn – Kadri
    Colbo – Bozak – Kulie

Supposed to be the strongest since 2003, which could actually make trades difficult.

Yeah, even better. Kadri and Parise would click, neither mind to get their nose dirty. Connolly is a steady, two-way contributing compliment to that line up, no doubt.

Grabo- Mid 1st and a solid prospect
    Liles- same
    Connolly- Same
    MacA- 1st rnd pick
    Komi- 2nd and stuff
    Gus- 2nd and stuff
    parlay those 2 picks into a 1st
that would leave us with 6 first round picks. That would be insane, can you imagine a bunch of young guns all being selected by the leafs and growing and playing together. Add that to Kadri, Coleborne, Ross, Mckegg, Gardiner, Blacker, Aulie, Biggs, Percy..
and wow that would be the most stacked org ever. Of course we do this after the season, or if playoffs are outta reach

While Burkie is connected with the US National team you’d think he would have some leverage to bring in a big gun. We may want to be 100% Canadian, but dammit talent is talent.

Don’t agree about Connolly. If he can prove to be less injury prone, he will bring a lot of assists to this group. For he is a very good “quarterback”.

connolly will only have one year after this and coleborne is his replacement, I’d rather trade him and create assets out of a FA signing. I like the AA style with the jays applied to hockey
