Morning Mashup: Garry Valk [Probably] Screws Up

Either Valk knows something the insiders don’t, and casually let it slip that Luke Schenn wants a trade out of Toronto, or there’s one more reason to make Garry Valk jokes in Leafland. Give it a listen:

In all likelihood, Valk got the rumour wrong or misspoke. There’s been nothing to indicate Schenn doesn’t still love it in Toronto. There’s some who think Schenn, in some eyes the most valuable expendable asset on the Leafs blue line, may be a part of a Burkie blockbuster, but I highly doubt it’s because he wants out. There’s your Monday morning gossip. Anthony Petrielli will have the weekly notebook later on today.

Maple Leafs moves amid trade speculation
Gardiner goes down to the Marlies, Reimer is back in tomorrow. Josh Rimer reported yesterday that Gardiner won’t be down for long as the Leafs look to parlay some of their defensive depth into a forward with size, and that’s very possible, but Burke did state early in the week that if an injury or bad play didn’t open up a spot for Gardiner by the end of the week, he’d be joining the Marlies.

Never would’ve thought this game would be so meaningful. We’re getting into the second half of the season, the Sens can suck like they’re supposed to any time now.
