Some surprising news this morning, as the Leafs have announced a four-year contract extension for blueliner John-Michael Liles, who was set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

From TSN:

The Toronto Maple Leafs will announce today that the club has signed defenceman John-Michael Liles to a four-year, $15.5 million contract extension.
It’s weird timing for a move like this, considering Liles has missed the last fifteen games with a concussion. This extension also stirs up a lot of rumors about what the Leafs will do in the next couple weeks, now that they’ve potentially taken a good chunk of cash away from being used to shop in the summer.

    Tell me where and I may change my mind? Finding teammates? Nope. Defensive zone coverage? All you needed to watch was last game to see an extended stay in their own zone with the point man on Lombardi side getting easy access to pucks because he was always out of position.

    And where is he now? Lol dude you need to learn how to watch a player because Lombardi is fast and that’s it. Haven’t even mentioned his shot yet which is weaker than a 6th grader. Makes me laugh. The guy scores a couple of goals, two of which he wasn’t even the last player to touch the puck and he’s good now. Jesus.

    Maybe? I didn’t watch him much anywhere else but my point is he can be stronger and possibly faster. I want to see him next year before trading him.

    Holy smoke…no offense but you cant know much or have watched any games….Lombo has one of the most accurate shots on the team… have you not seen his goals….the dude missed an entire year and is just getting back to form…No point in arguing cause you dont get it…will let his play for the rest of the year do the talking

    Not sure why folks wanna trade schenn the guy is 22 and has been developing in our system for how many yrs? This is the leafs biggest problem for years now.. Do you see a team like detroit making big trades? Nope they develop there guys and train them to play the system…
    They only add guys to there core.. NHL teams should take notice.
