Boyce claimed by Jackets, Frattin recalled by Leafs

A few quick updates today; the Leafs have recalled Matt Frattin from the Marlies, Rosehill has been assigned to the AHL club, and Darryl Boyce did not clear waivers and was claimed by the Columbus Blue Jackets – this news coming from Darren Dreger over Twitter.

On the Nash front, the Rangers have sent Wojtek Wolski to the Florida Panthers in a salary dump move, so it looks like they’re getting close to landing the big winger. The rumored price out there now looks like Del Zotto or McDonagh, along with a 1st round pick and prospect Tim Erixon. It’s unclear as to whether the Leafs are in on this bidding, but that price seems too high anyway so let’s hope not.

We’ll pass along more updates throughout the day if anything else goes down.

The Coyotes–if they had any money–would doubtless find it easier to pull off deals that have secret upsides.  There’s little prospect of that here.  If there’s a potential drawback to doing a deal with Leafs that some other GM hasn’t thought of, Toronto fan will be happy to tip him off.  There’s a lot more free information available to non-Leaf execs here than there is to Leaf execs investigating the situation in other markets.

Go back and read…condescending accurately decribes your first comment to me.. you get what you give…

  • Gzoman

Only in Toronto would there be a press conference for that.

  • Doorman

Yep!  Time to make my guess on tonights game!  See you on the next thread!  lol

  • Whalz

It’s frustrating no doubt but BB has made some really good trades, let’s have faith in him to get something done to help this team get into the playoffs without depleting all the assets

No need to waste time like that, you’re not worth it. You argue every point you have to make. Must suck always trying to be right. Without making it personal, I feel bad for you.

  • Armchair GM

He’s American so it’s not possible… But you can suck American corporate dick like the current joker…

  • darthNihilus

exactly. like it or not everyone in t.o. lives, breathes and eats LEAFS (in my case even people halfway around the world)

Who said it was fun? Nobody did…but Burke still did exactly what your saying he would never do…he demoted a previously injured player to the minors because he felt he was no longer of use to the team…

    I feel great!!

He’s also made some really shitty decisions.

Exactly..just call a spade a spade….he’s done lots of good things..and he’s made his share of mistakes…I think its fair to discuss both…

  • Gzoman

Indeed alot of people TO follow the buds…whats more amazing is that when I travel, so many peolple know Toronto cause of the Leafs.

  • Doorman

Exactly!  he demoted the guy because he was not good enough to make the team.  Not because he was injured!!!

  • Mattmark

Yes, it’s his contribution to the team that’s the bottom line.  It has to be.  You can’t ’carry’ someone for sentimental reasons… it isn’t fair to his team-mates.

  • Doorman

Yep!  Moving to the other thread!

Hockey Buzz Eklund ‏ @EklundCloseI’ve heard same rumor as XM Home ICE. Preds have an offer in for Nash of Ellis, Wilson, Laakso, and a #1. (Nash-ville?) will Nash say yes? That has to be bullshit, that would BLOW any team away no one could top that, IMO Nashville would crumble there team, Ek is fucked! Suter AND Weber would be gone to, pathetic…

Burke spoke to Schenn today to reassure them that he has not been offered in a trade but that he cannot promise him he won’t be traded.  Interesting.

  • Armchair GM

I understand Burke wants to instill a winning tradition, but these pre-game ceremonies are becoming excessive and counter-productive…

  • Armchair GM

Cassie Campbell got the scoop… I’d do her…

  • Armchair GM

Bower should head over to Reimer and teach him the ancient art of the poke check… That aside, why was Bower called the “China Wall?”. He isn’t Chinese…
