Boyce claimed by Jackets, Frattin recalled by Leafs

A few quick updates today; the Leafs have recalled Matt Frattin from the Marlies, Rosehill has been assigned to the AHL club, and Darryl Boyce did not clear waivers and was claimed by the Columbus Blue Jackets – this news coming from Darren Dreger over Twitter.

On the Nash front, the Rangers have sent Wojtek Wolski to the Florida Panthers in a salary dump move, so it looks like they’re getting close to landing the big winger. The rumored price out there now looks like Del Zotto or McDonagh, along with a 1st round pick and prospect Tim Erixon. It’s unclear as to whether the Leafs are in on this bidding, but that price seems too high anyway so let’s hope not.

We’ll pass along more updates throughout the day if anything else goes down.

    I wonder if Burke ever fantasizes about what it would be like to explore trade possibilities without thousands of journalists, broadcasters and fans trampling ahead of him in a thundering herd, dissecting every conceivable permutation of every conceivable deal, alerting other GMs to the shortcomings of all assets Burke might be in a position to offer, expressing the conviction that these GMs should insist on getting, at the very least, Schenn, Kadri, Colborne, Gardiner and a combination of first- and second-round draft picks in return for any player Burke might happen to covet, and how Burke would be robbing them blind if they settled for less.

    Exactly..they dumped Lombardi because he was concussed….its certainly not the first..nor the last time a GM would be intentionally trying to dump damaged goods..its goes on constantly…..and these teams seem to do just fine….

    If anything Burke is guilty of raising expectations for free agency last year… As the GM he should state goals, and making the playoffs albeit difficult is achievable… Also, I may be wrong but I don’t think RW said “win and you’re in.”. I saw it as play good and you’re in…
