The Leafs are truly a hilarious team to follow right now. A couple weeks ago it was frustrating to watch them drop some games, but now things have gone to such an extreme that I’m not upset in the least.

The next four games are against Montreal, Boston, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia – a possible eight points. I’d be absolutely floored if the Leafs can come away with three. Managing to push one to overtime would be a minor miracle in itself it seems. The Leafs playoff chances have now plummeted to 11.1%. I think everyone should enjoy a good chuckle at the Leafs’ expense this season, considering the Lightning and Sabres (both one point back of Toronto, with a game in hand) have been ridiculed so often. It’s our turn to field some insults.

I’m still expecting things to turn around for this club at some point in March. To what extent remains unseen. It’s likely that the Leafs let themselves go to ten points out then rip off a few at the end of the season to land in 9th, giving everyone one last laugh before the playoffs start. Perfect.

Until this season Burke had done a quality job. This year he fucked up huge. He tried to quicken the path to the playoffs bringing in vets that in no way shape or form have ever lead a team in any direction. So he has to fix it.

This team needs some quality in the lineup and if it’s a solid veteran even better. Rick Nash is the guy. You need a guy like this for your young players and all your young players. If it costs you 1 of your young guys to get him you do it every time for your remaining 10 young guys.

People love Eakins because he is a 180 of Wilson. Eakins seems to be a coach that players will go to war for. The best example of this kind of jump is Bylsma which is what Leafs fans hope can happen here. Pitts got rid of a miserable old man and brought in his opposite!

Nash would be a piece to the puzzle but not the final piece. He would be more like one of the four corners haha

Burke looked for vets to quicken the path to the playoffs…they have not lead the team. Rick Nash is the guy.

How do people know what Eakins will do in a playoff series. Do you hire people on their personality or looks. ? Most hires are done on ability. I want to wait to see first, before. I know people think he is handsome, but please……

If I’m Burke my main target is Jordan Staal. Big, responsible, talented, and is a warrior.

With resigning Neal to a monster deal, and seeing as UFA status is around the corner for Crosby and Malkin, it would make sense to shed some money.

Obviously it’s a deal made after they know what Crosby is going to do.

    Lupul- Staal-Kessel
    Kulemin- Grabo -Parise
    Frattin – Bozak- Colborne
    Brown- Steckel -Armstrong

Experience is certainly an asset, couldn’t agree more. Bylsma never even coached a playoff game as a head coach in the AHL before he was hired. It’s just an example. Obviously Eakins wont have 87 and 71 in his line up with fluery in net. I am not saying hire Eakins. But, I do like his style. Maurice said it the other day in TO you need the media on your side and guys like RW and Carlisle wont ever have the media on their side. Makes it harder on everyone.

I think people in Toronto ( similar to Montreal where French is important) want a visually appealing coach for media scums and TV exposure. Posters make fun of people, based on their looks, age, weight, etc.

Personally, I’d be happy with Quasimodo if he knew how to inspire a team, coach a proper defensive scheme and produce consistent results.
