The Randy Carlyle era begins in Montreal tonight as the Leafs look to break a six game losing streak that has dropped them back to 12th, five points out of the final playoff spot.

Members of Tank Nation will be looking at the game with much anticipation as a loss tonight would drop the Leafs to within three points of the 15th placed Habs.

How do the Leafs respond to the kick in the pants they received yesterday? Let’s find out.

Jonas Gustavsson starts in goal. Matthew Lombardi will center the fourth line with Steckel between Kulemin and Connolly on the third. Mike Komisarek will play over Cody Franson.

    i think Carlyle communicated better on the bench…maybe it’s just me, what i was hoping for….the one area where Ron Wilson failed imho, getting his point across to a player on the bench during the games…the same ‘hang’em out to dry’ grit will kill spirit on the bench whereas Carlyle seemed to take a few extra seconds to get his point across clearly..
    I totally enjoyed the game, the effort, and even the post game Carlyle interview.

    But why do Ontario and Canadian millionaires need standing up? In what way are they hard done by? Seems like a manufactured controversy to me. I’d be more interested to know why over the years more Ontario UFAs didnt come to the Leafs.

    I guess you could look at it that way. I think when players quit, regardless of the reason, they’re the problem.

    As I said, we’ll see how this group does against Boston and other good opponents. The Habs aren’t really much of a barometer.
