I think his offense will be secondary, what could make him a valuable piece is his physicality combined with some offense. Clowe, Lucic, D. Brown etc they aren’t offensive dynamos but they have a role and they play it while contributing 50ish points a season. This is what Burke is hoping he turns into.
Take Lucic as a prime example. He wasn’t a PPG even in Jr. but it’s hard to argue against him being a legitimate top 6 forward.
Late in the 1st round, I think it’s okay to gamble on guys like this.

I bet Columbus picks Grigo over Nail… With Nails injury combined with the fact that Columbus needs a number one centre more than anything. I think Grigo is their man… So it may actually be fail for Nail, if we can drop to 3rd last.

Clowe, Lucic, and Dustin Brown are not what I would consider third-liners with limited offensive potential. Of course Burke picked him hoping he might become one of these players, I simply don’t believe that stands a remote chance of happening. As it stands, only time will tell

However, considering our organizational needs, I think this was the wrong player to take have taken a chance on with that pick. We lack any prospects (outside of Kadri) who possess the ability to become truly dynamic offensive players, and there were those types of options available. Burke could have gotten a player with a similarly projected potential farther down in the draft with little difficulty. He picked the kid because he falls in love with many players coming out of the USNTDP. I think personal preference overrode team needs on this one.

Thats waht I was thinking, they would be willing to trade down a spot or two but I think both teams would regret it if they passed on Yak

I hope to god your not in the trade kessel group after saying this… who needs a prospect to be this when you already have an NHL’er who is young and does it ?!

I think we’re keeping 6 players, as I”m trying to model it after my work pool, although we’re keeping 1LW, 1C, 1RW, 2D and 1G in that pool.
Too late to make change it like that, as I would have had to tell people that before the draft, but I could still change it back to 5 if people would prefer that!
