Personally i want Edmonton to win so they can catch up to us. This way TB still has a game in hand on us and can win their nxt game to pass us.

Yup and he was already taking a paycut for the Canucks, so they’d be able to make some moves at the deadline, as Vancouver originally offered him $20 million over 2 years.

Even though I don’t think Sundin would still be playing and even though he probably wouldn’t have been a game breaker for his last couple of years, I still think he should have been resigned and allowed to retire a Leaf!

Wait a second, is that an assumption ? I dont recall hearing Anything from Sundin after playing in Vancouver. Not a word about willing to come back and play for Toronto…

Cherry will be happy, the Leafs now have two players born in Ontario on the roster!

If I remember correctly, the meeting took place as soon as Burke became the GM. Sundin asked to meet with him when they were both down in California. Burke told him that he was a great player, but that the Leafs weren’t a good fit for him at this stage in his career, and that he would do better for himself playing elsewhere.

In other words, lawyer doublespeak for, thanks for asking, not interested…

looking towards next season… are there any teams in danger of not reaching the cap floor (as it’s going up… temporarily?) who would need to acquire some high price contracts similar to what Florida had to do last year?

Just thinking if we’re trying to remove some contracts (maybe 4-5) in order to rbing in 1-3 free agents and give some of the kids a shot, then it may be liekly that we can target a cap floor team to take on contracts like Army, Komi, and Connoly… i mean no one thought Brian Campbell was going anywhere at 7 mil, but this dynamic played out well for the Hawks…

    thoughts?
