The Toronto Marlies have a 3-1 lead in the Western Conference Semi-finals and look to deliver a “kill shot” to a team that had their number at the end of the regular season tonight in Abbotsford. The Marlies started the series well in game 1, but had a tough time beating Abbotsford’s goaltender, Danny Taylor. Once the Marlies were able to crack Taylor, The Marlies have had a relatively easy time with the Heat in this series, easily picking apart a team that plays a very heavy trap system. Ben Scrivens has been the talk of this series and has played exceptionally well.

Line up notes

Jesse Blacker is back in the lineup, replacing Matt Lashoff. On forward, David Broll is out, Kelsey Wilson is replacing him. Joe Colborne is still out with a bad finger injury to his middle finger.

Abbotsford Heat’s top regular season and playoff producers, Kris Kolanos, is back in after being a health scratch over ‘internal issues’. That could be an interesting story to follow.

Jon Abbott and Bob McGill recap game four, and look ahead to tonight’s game on LeafsTV. The game will also be broadcast on am640.

Nazem Kadri

Ryan Hamilton

Kelsey Wilson

I’m telling you, put him between Kessel and Lupul and watch him have a career year – like everyone else who plays next to ‘The Thrill’

    connolly + schenn = STASTNY
    deschamps + 2nd (35th) = STEWART
    komisarek + reimer = LUONGO
    -
    Dump Lombardi and Armstrong
    -
    lupul – stastny – kessel
    maca – grabo – kulemin
    frattin – bozak – stewart
    _____ – steckel – brown
    (kadri)
    -
    gardiner – phaneuf
    gunnar – schultz
    j.m. liles – franson
    (fraser, holzer)
    -
    luongo – scrivens
    -
Then I’d prefer to move Steckel out of town and run with a talented fourth line that includes Kadri and D’Amigo or Colborne, like Philly.

We need to make room for Kadri and maybe Komarov. Trade Mac or just leave Stewart out of it

Nothing wrong with having depth though. At least one forward is going to be perpetually injured, remember. Start with Mac, and move him if/when you have to. What I like about the above model though, is that it addresses everything Burke said he wanted to address, but without detracting too much from what parts have been successful.
    -
We lose Schenn, but presumably we sign Scultz. We add leadership in Stastny and Luongo – two guys who have seen a lot and played on some grand stages. We add size and toughness in the form of Stewart. And of course, we get a proven goalie.

The that lineup you would have a good chance of signing Parise.

Yea, Burke would have to have an active June, but it’s possible. That roster has 5.5 million in cap space assuming the cap stays the same and the bonus cushion returns.

Top 5 scorers so far in playoffs for Marlies are these old career AHL players in order D’amigo.Kadri,Frattin, Dupuis, Gardiner.

And Dupuis is only in there because Colborne and Ashton are injured.

Add Giggy into the trade with Colorado when Lou goes to Tampa

Not taking anything away from him – just saying, we still have more kids who could probably contribute even more.

If the Rangers lose Saturday, the sixth-seeded Devils have home-ice advantage for the rest of the playoffs. #Craisins

If Lou goes to Tampa you look at MacArthur for someone like Bernier, and go with a trio of young talent, and hope for the best. Don’t think Giggy is leaving Denver.

    I love this part!!!!!!!!
Because World League Volleyball is taking over the Marlies home at Ricoh Coliseum next weekend, that may even mean they get a game at a relatively empty Air Canada Centre.
Imagine that: Playoff hockey at the ACC in late May.

Wonder about that though. Maybe if they reach the finals . I’m just not sure how many would go and having a 1/2 mt ACC is not like having a full house at the Ricoh.

Why wouldn’t Suter go to July 1? He’s earned right to consider his options. If deal with Preds isn’t best, Nashville will trade his rights.
