Despite this being “the most important week of negotiations”, there’s been basically nothing in terms of CBA/lockout news since last Thursday. It’s nothing to panic about; after reading the solid material Mirtle at the Globe and mc79 have pumped out over the past few days, I’m pretty confident that we’ll see a resolution to this whole thing soon. But until we do, let’s enjoy the news and notes from other leagues, as well as a few history lessons and another look at how the Leafs may fare when this lockout ends.

Kyle the Reporter has some notes about the Marlies this week in his regular hot and cold article.

Michael at Vintage Leaf Memories asks “What’s your first ever true “blue and white” Leafs’ memory?”

According to the Gazette, Leafs fans have voted Bower the best goalie in team history.

Cam at The Leafs Nation discusses whether the team is well-positioned for the new NHL when this lockout ends.

Blue Chip Prospects takes a closer look at Captain Dion.

And lastly, Clarke MacArthur will join a team in 2nd Bundesliga of Germany.

Mac’s play was a disappointing..his effort level was far below his previous season…that said…I wouldn’t call him a 3rd line plug…..yet that is……but in reality he’s an average 2nd liner on weak team…or above average 3rd liner on a strong team…nothing more..nothing less…this type of inconsistent effort is exactly why Buffalo let him walk….

I agree with Kovalchuk 100% that the owners have no right to reduce wages on existing contracts that were signed in good faith by various players.  Owners signed them the same as the players.  If the NHL wants wage roll backs then from my point of view the NHLPA are in the right completely.

Are you a Bellevillian?  I noticed through your Disqus account that you have some posts at the Intel.  I lived most of my life in Belleville and my mom and sister still live there.

Queen Street.  Across from the clay tennis courts.  I went to Moira SS for high school.  My mon now lives on Catherine Street on the hill at the top end or Murney Street.

I think the NHLs recent offer is fine as is, and adjusting the cap etc is fine but the prorata salaries for the players should be put against the cap and the surplus waived for the duration of existing contracts.  Which means the Minnesota Stars and New Jersey Devils get the privilege of over paying for good talent for a long time to come.

My dad was an art teacher at Loyalist.  Nude drawing and Terra Cotta sculpture.
I miss Waterfront.  Was in Kingston for 7 months recently but missed the festival.

There are some good points to the Leagues ideas.  Mostly the ones that keep the owners in line.  Why have a cap if they keep circumventing it.  I don’t mind shorter contract lengths either, especially for players in their 30′s.

Ditto, shorter contracts are fine.  I like the idea of teams like Vancouver being stuck with Luongos salary forever :)

Kingston has Febfest now and the Limestone classic.  I went and saw the classic during the last lockout and it was absolutely star studded.  Dougie, Wendel, Muller, Nieuwendyk, Turco.  Was awesome.  Ron and Don were there.  Even bumped into the OTR host Landsberg.  My son asked him why he was wearing makeup.  Was hillarious, the camera man said to my son “You don’t wanna see him without.”   Anyways, I wonder if they are gonna have the NHLers participate this year if the lockout is still on?

Stirling just north of Belleville..(home or Rob Ray and Matt Cooke)..won the kraft hockey ville challenge last year…and with that the Quinte Sports Center in Belleville was to host a pre season game between Columbus and Toronto this season….but thanks to the lockout it was cancelled…needless to say alot of disappointed fans in this neck of the woods…not sure if you’ve been to the Quinte sports center recently…but its been totally renovated into a sports and wellness center now…4 ice pads..swimming pools…running tracks..fitness areas…quite a facilty now..

BTW Tucker…this lockout is going to end within the next 2 weeks…I promise..:)

Yup.  The Yardman Arena now isn’t it?  I know Stirling very well.  My brother hung out with the “Stirling boys” when he went to Centennial Secondary.  His best friend dated the owner of Birds IGA’s daughter for a while and we all hung out at her place in Stirling quite often.  This was way back in the late 80′s though.

Just turned 40 in August.  I started grade 9 the year after you graduated.  Bayside was a brand new school back then eh?  I remember going there for some reason with my school and was in awe at how nice and modern it was.  But was puzzled at the lack of windows and that they only allowed one to see the sky.
